| I scored 4/5 in my predictions. My own preferences line up 2/5. I was right to assume that Revolutionary Road might be snubbed (preventing a second consecutive double nomination for still un-Oscared Roger Deakins) and I was right to assume that Changeling (which I had in 7th place) might have a real shot. But it's still a surprise. Tom Stern, Eastwood's preferred DP has never even been nominated when an Eastwood picture has made it to the Best Picture lineup so it's a surprise. A pleasant one for Stern undoubtedly. I believe that Benjamin Button has a chance to win this here's why... but I'm predicting Slumdog because it feels like a sweeper What's
your preference? (not prediction) |

Direction |

| I scored 3/5 in my predictions. My own preferences line up only 1/5 so I'm rooting for Benjamin Button in this particular category. The art director's branch of the Academy really opened the doors for new members now with a ton of first time nominees. Welcome to the party! My guess is that CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON wins this but I suppose The Duchess is the alternate should Benjamin Button support be much lighter than its nomination tally suggests. |

Editing |
||||
| I scored 5/5 in my predictions... but the editors tend to be easy to predict, tending to go with whatever the Best Picture frontrunners are assumed to be. My own preferences line up only 1/5 so I'm rooting for Milk... I predictt this is an easy get for the very visible frantic editing of Slumdog Millionaire. (I never really understand the choices the editor's branch makes each year) with The Dark Knight as the spoiler if they feel like Slumdog has won plenty already. |

| I scored 3/3 in my predictions (it was easy - I ain't bragging) and this is 2/3 with my preferences. I'm rooting for a win for Benjamin Button, which was such a wow effects wise. And unless the Batman fans within AMPAS are angry enough to vote for The Dark Knight everywhere... I predict it CCoBB has this. |

MakeUp |

| I scored only 1/3 in my predictions (makeup is always tough to forsee) and this is 2/3 with my preferences. I'm rooting for a win for The Dark Knight for that iconic Joker interpretation.Benjamin Button generally looked great and realistic but I don't understand why Cate Blanchett was made up to look like a 110 year old when her daughter was only 40? That said I imagine Benjamin Button wins this without much trouble |
