Melissa McCarthy has been positioning herself as one of the great comedic actors of the 21st century for quite some time now. Like most stars she has her share of hits (The Heat, Spy) and misses (Tammy, The Boss), but even if the movie flops, McCarthy always brings it. On that note, be extremely excited about her newest project:, a puppet/human hybrid dark R rated comedy directed by heir to the Muppets Brian Henson called The Happytime Murders...

In the film McCarthy will play a human detective who must team up with a puppet detective to crack the case of who has been murdering the puppet cast of a classic Muppets/Sesame Street style show, The Happytime Gang. In addition to staring, McCarthy is producing along with Henson and her husband Ben Falcone.

The movie has been in the works for some time and at one point Jamie Foxx was set to star. It's always fascinating when roles that were originally meant for men end up being recast as women (although it's possible that the role was always gender neutral). Based on the synopsis it sounds like this role will fit McCarthy like a glove.

McCarthy said of the movie:

"[it] combines puppet strippers, Los Angeles' underbelly and comedy, it's like my fever dream has finally come true."

Yours and mine both, Melissa. Now let's just hope a certain Paypal board member doesn't get wind of this.
