Chris here. Summer movie season isn't complete without one solid romantic comedy (or four, or ten, wishful thinking). This year's winner could very well likely be Sundance sensation The Big Sick.

The film stars comedian Kumail Nanjiani (who also cowrote the semi-autobiographical film with Emily V. Gordon) and Zoe Kazan as a young lovers on the outs thanks to the pressures of their interracial coupling...

Toss in a coma and things get extra tricky as Kumail deals with navigating his feelings for the waning relationship and the girl's parents. The first look materials are right in line with director/comedian Michael Showalter's Hello My Name Is Doris, but the reviews out of Sundance promise even bigger laughs and emotion - especially from Holly Hunter and Ray Romano as Kazan's parents. Holly Hunter flexing her tragicomedy chops again? Praise be! (Though we'll save some of her early Oscar whisperings until we at least see if this thing is a hit.)

Nanjiani and Kazan are poised for very deserved breakouts with the right project - how refreshing to see these hip two paired as romantic leads! - so if Sick delivers, we'll hopefully see a lot more of them. Sundance comedies have burned as much as they have delighted, and I'm guessing this will be more of the latter. Could The Big Sick be our big summer fling?
