Given the samey-sameness of summer movie season when 75% of everything is BIG FRANCHISE, little morsels about fall movie season taste especially delicious. The gay conversion camp drama Boy Erased starring Lucas Hedges released images that we forgot to share last week and now Steve McQueen's crime drama Widows with Viola Davis as the widow of a gangster (we assume Liam Neeson given the photo) has released a few of its own. They're all after the jump...
Waiting impatiently for a trailer to drop, how about you? (Pssst. That's happening Monday with the movie opening on November 16th)
As for Boy Erased. It seems crazy that we're getting two gay conversion camp dramas within one month of each other but that's how 2018 is shaking out with Sundance winner The Miseducation of Cameron Post in August and then Joel Edgerton's directorial debut Boy Erased on September 28th.
Here are the first released photos of that one.
Both of these films are mysteries when it comes to Oscar season. But then every film is now that "Oscar Bait" has (thankfully) become so hard to define. It's easy to picture anything happening with them from complete nothingness to major player and any minor variation inbetween. But both films are events for those of us who love the art of acting. Kidman. Davis. Debicki. Hedges. Neeson. Duvall. Coon. Farrell. Kaluyya. Crowe. So many exciting names in each of them!
On a scale of 1 to 10 how excited are you for these films?
