NATHANIEL R in Florida, Honey Boy, Israel, OFCS, Portrait of a Lady on Fire, Synonyms, TThe Irishman, film critics, precursor awards

The OFCS was founded back in 1997 just as film criticism was exploding on the web but still disrespected by old media. Since their founding 22 years ago there is less reason for their existence (all critics are primarily "online film critics" these days) but we've always liked them because the taste level is consistent. Let's start with their nominees and move on to other winners from other associations, at home and abroad.

IFCA
(Israeli Film Critics Association)

Film: Tel Aviv on Fire
Director: Nadav Lapid, Synonyms
Best Screenplay:Tel Aviv on Fire
Best Actor: Kais Nashif and Yaniv Biton, Tel Aviv on Fire
Best Actress: Betalehem Asmamawe, Fig Tree
Breakthrough Award: Yona Rozenkier - Acting, Directing, Writing of The Dive
Artistic Achievement Award: Cinematography, Peaches and Cream
Best International Film: Parasite
Best Film of the Decade: [TIE] Zero Motivation and The Kindergarten Teacher

Luxembourg's Oscar submission Tel Aviv on Fire, which was successful in the States, was the group's big winner though we like that Synonyms made a move on Best Director. Interestingly neither of their tied votes for "Best of the Decade", Zero Motivation or The Kindergarten Teacher, were submitted by Israel for the Oscars in their respective years.

OAFFC
(Online Association of Female Film Critics)
This is the newest female critics association. They're in their third year now. The other two female critics organizations: Alliance of Women Film Journalists (founded in 2006) and the Women Film Critics Circle (founded in 2004) are also still handing out prizes. We're not sure what the different quite is between the three groups since none of them are regionally focused.
