Look, Andie MacDowell (with Ellen von Unwerth and Izabel Goulart) at a party in Cannes is illustrating for us exactly how we feel like watching actresses work the red carpets at Cannes: drunk, giddy, silly, happy and greedy.

So let's finish up that list of our favourite gowns at this year's Cannes but before we do that we should note that we purposely didn't include any pants outfits though there were more women in slacks this year than has been the norm. Of those our favourite looks belonged to Margot Robbie and Li Yuchun. Like so...

Okay, back to the ranked list of our favourite gowns.

72 Greatest Gowns of Cannes, continued... (pt 1 here)

28 LEOMIE ANDERSON
Is this really a gown? One might argue that it's only the back half of a gown but whatever it is this look, which appeared to be made from crushed disco ball and lucid dreams is fabulous.

26-27 ISABELLE ADJANI and FATOU N'DYAIE
WHAT is Isabelle wearing. The straw hat is so wrong that it's right. Fatou N'Dyaie is apparently a beauty blogger of some reknown in France? How common is the last name N'Dyaie because I didn't read anywhere about any connection to jury member Mamouna N'Daiye

25 ZHANG ZIYI

23-24 MACHA MERIL and CHARLOTTE GAINSBOURG
These looks are so perfect because they tell you so much about the personalities of the women wearing them.

20-21-22 SARA FORESTIER and MARIA FERNANDA CANDIDO and CHLOE SEVIGNY
Gorgeousity x 3. Can't decide if Chloe's shoulder detail is a giant bow or the bottom half of the dress deconstructed to the point where it's just thrown over the shoulder because, fashion.

18-19 ARYA HARGATE and HUMA QURESHI

17 - EMILY BEECHUM
Unclear why we love this black gown so much but there's something about it that's crushing.

14-15-16
ARAYA HARGATE and JING TIAN and JULIANNE MOORE
Hargate was killing it though whole festival, Jing Tian couldn't look prettier, and this is the best of many great looks from Juli... though we're still unclear why she was at the fest for so many days since she didn't seem to have a film or be on a jury.

12-13 AMBER HEARD and CHUN LI

11 TILDA SWINTON

10 HINA KHAN

09 AISHWARYA RAI

08 - MAYA HENRY
We never saw the bottom half of the gown (but remember what we said about these rankings in part 1) but we're trusting that it's as enchanting as this unique top half with its delicate color tones and strikingly rigid lines.

06-07 DAKOTA FANNING and ISABELLE HUPPERT
Yes, Elle was the belle of the festival ball on the jury but Dakota was so fetching in this simple bit of glamour with yellow sash. Welcome back, Dakota. Now give Elle some competition again. Isabelle Huppert always wears the same silhouette but this color and fabric is shimmesmerizing, okay?

05 EUGENIA KUZMINA
Was wondering if this was too much until it felt like a missed opportunity that no one wore this to the Met Gala so it's awesome.

03-04 HELEN MIRREN and ARAYA HARGATE
Color stories. And so much drama.

02 DEEPIKA PADUKONE
The Bollywood diva was eager to make headlines all throughout the festival given her insane dresses. But this one is the one that actually works overtime to be its own happening. Every section of this black and white monstrosity is at war with itself. Note how the bow is trying to steal the show being bigger than the entire bodice. The shoulder pads suddenly realize that they're about to be overshadowed by the bow and are not having it. ❤️

01 ELLE FANNING
The winner because we couldn't stop looking at it. And every time we did it became more beautiful. Every detail deeps adding to its lighter than air woodland nymph spell, like it might dissolve into a flower bed as she vanishes or dissipate into a cloudy sky as if it was only an ethereal spell one imagined. Only the youngest woman to ever serve on the Cannes Jury could have pulled this off.
