I know Nathaniel finds endless superhero casting rumor speculation a little tedious, and I do a lot of the time myself as well. But we all can make an exception right now just so we get the chance to stare at Gemma Chan for a second, right? The world needs more Gemma Chan to stare at. Thankfully Marvel seems to agree...
After they wasted her in a throwaway role playing one of Jude Law's sidekicks in Captain Marvel earlier this year they're possibly maybe bringing her back for a leading role in The Eternals opposite Angelina Jolie, Brian Tyree Henry, Salma Hayek, Richard Madden, Kumail Nunjiani, and so on. Awesomeness.
Chan probably won't be playing "Minn-Erva" again -- people seem to think she'd be playing a different character, one of the better known Eternals that still haven't been cast, somebody like Sersi for example. (She'd make a killer Sersi.)
Marvel has had actors play more than one role in the MCU before -- click here to see a list of 20 such examples! -- although this would be the most noticeable reboot, I think.
Another exciting bit of news here -- Barry Keoghan, who gave my second favorite male performance of 2017 in The Killing of a Sacred Deer, is rumored to be in talks for the movie as well, but nobody has a clue what for. If Barry was in every single movie I'd still want him in more, so sounds good to me. Any guesses who he could be playing, comic book fans?
