If we're already getting the first promotional image of Denis Villeneuve's take on sci-fi literary classic Dune than the movie must still be aiming for its December 18th release date. We find that highly plausible since the movie wrapped its filming in 2019 and movie theaters are going to need some big ticket items when they reopen. Our friend Boyd Van Hoeij describes Timothée Chalamet's costume like so...
So you should know that the costumes are by a pair of designers (hey, it's a huge project). Bob Morgan who previously did costume supervision work on movies like Live by Night, and Maleficent: Mistress of Evil is getting his first full-stop "Costume Designer" credit. He's sharing that with three-time Oscar nominee Jacqueline West (The Revenant, Quills, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button). Can't wait to see more.
And for those of you who haven't been following along the movie has a tremendous cast. In addition to Chalamet we're getting delicious actors like Rebecca Ferguson, Zendaya, Jason Momoa, Josh Brolin, Javier Bardem, Oscar Isaac, David Dastmalchian, and Charlotte Rampling and they'll all be shot by the great Australian cinematographer Greig Fraser (Lion, Bright Star, Let Me In).
The logo is also an eye-popper.
We don't have a running time yet on the picture but the novel has a LOT of material, so it's strange that people keep wanting this to be a movie rather than an epic HBO series or some such. When David Lynch tried to adapt this in 1984 (running time: 2 hours and 17 minutes) they passed out glossaries when you got to the theaters they were so worried about how hard it would be to follow.
UPDATE And now we have even more images. Take a looksie...
Extremely disappointed in the drag color palette but hoping the early photos are misleading in that regard. They seem to have been with West Side Story recently and definitely were with Mad Max Fury Road a handful of years back.
