"I loved what Jessica Lange said that the choices you end up regretting are the projects you said yes to, rather than no to. Everyone seemed to agree in unison." - Aaron

"I love the part starting where Jessica and Elisabeth are bonding over their shared childhood love of acting without realising that it was acting!" -Aditya

"Meek's Cutoff" and Early Cinephilia

We're switching up the guest lists, for a hopefully rotating panel. For this week's podcast we have three first time guests: Kurt (Your Movie Buddy), Michael (Serious Film and Unsung Heroes) and Robert ("Distant Relatives") and yours truly, Nathaniel.

Topics include:

  • Kelly Reichardt's invisible storytelling and Meek's Cutoff
  • Is Michelle Williams America's Tilda Swinton?
  • Robert Pattison and Water for Elephants
  • Cinephilia: When did it begin for our guests? How do their significant others deal with their movie obsessiveness?

As always the conversation can include more voices. Join us in the comments.

Jane Eyre (The New Podcast Season Begins)

New season of the podcast starts now. Though Oscar season is still many months away the Big O (and I don't mean Oprah) is not required for hearty movie conversations. Even if he likes to muscle his golden way in from time to time. In this week's episode Nick and Katey and Nathaniel have gathered to talk about the dreaminess of Michael Fassbender, the skill of Mia Wasikowska, the promise of Cary Fukunaga and drafty manor houses on the moors filled with dark secrets.

For those who haven't yet read the book or seen the movie we pull back from the spoilers so fear not. But go see the movie! All three of us were fans of this particular adaptation. Also discussed, however briefly: Rango, Certified Copy and Andrea Arnold's forthcoming adaptation of Wuthering Heights. It's a big year for those Brontë girls.
