Veronica Mars
Kristen Bell reprises her role as the title character in this neo-noir murder mystery that picks up nine year after where Season 3 of the eponymous TV series left off.

Talent
Rob Thomas, creator of the original series is in the director's chair. Kristen Bell is joined in front of the camera by other series regulars including Jason Dohring.

Why We Can't Wait
I have been firmly in the tank for Rob Thomas's Veronica Mars ever since the television series ended in 2007. I'm pretty sure that's longer than anyone else has been waiting for their most anticipated film - even Terrence Malick isn't taking that long between films anymore! But ever since that dark day in May seven years ago, there has been talk of reuniting the cast for another iteration of the story. First there was a "Season Four" that was essentially a completely different show, jumping forward in time a few years to where intrepid teen detective Veronica Mars was a junior FBI agent. That was ultimately rejected by the network.

Talk of a movie began almost immediately following that disappointment, but Thomas and star Bell repeatedly said that they wouldn't do it unless they had something really good. Such talk often crops up around beloved cult shows that get cancelled (Arrested Development, Party Down, etc.), and only rarely does anything actually happen. Veronica's devoted Marshmallows had begun to lose hope in our cherished characters returning to our lives. And then, in a flurry of activity last March, that all changed. The announcement on YouTube. The creation of the Kickstarter page. To paraphrase one of The Film Experience's favorite movies, this was no dream - it was really happening!

One month later, Veronica Mars had made crowd-funding history and kicked off a mini-trend of celebrity filmmakers trying their hand at it. But make no mistake, this is the one we've all been waiting for. Will it make money? Will it attract people who never watched the TV show? Will it even be any good? We will find out soon enough. I'm counting down the days until I get to reunite with Veronica, Keith, Mac, Logan, Dick, and Wallace (hell, even Piz) at the Neptune High 10-Year Reunion!

But We Do Have To Wait
Only until March 14th! Warner Brothers is distributing the film.
