Chris here, on behalf of my fellow Team Experience writers! Before Nathaniel shares his Top Ten and Film Bitch honors (not to mention the Oscar nominations on Tuesday - eek!), we've polled all of the other writers here at The Film Experience for their favorites of the past year without our kind and benevolent leader. It's our 6th Annual Team Experience Awards!
You'll remember last year we awarded eventual Oscar Best Picture winner Moonlight with seven prizes, and this year the wealth is slightly more shared. We had a lot of readers asking to see what our full ballot of nominations would be, so this year we have opened it up to reveal our winner and four runner-ups in each of our categories. Our nomination leader is Call Me By Your Name with 9 mentions, and craft-heavy Phantom Thread and The Shape of Water are right behind with 8.
Our most awarded however was granted to one of our most discussed, Greta Gerwig's Lady Bird. Because as Lois Smith's nun ponders: aren't love and attention the same thing? Check out our winners...

TRIVIA
- 72 films were voted for in Best Picture, with 202 films receiving at list one mention across all categories - both numbers are up from last year.
- Those mother/daughter father/son acting wins are just swell, no?
- The top categories were a very tight finish between Lady Bird, Get Out, and CMBYN, with Lady Bird's original screenplay win coming down to the very final ballot. CMBYN's adapted screenplay win was the mightiest, receiving more than 3 times its nearest competitor (The Beguiled).
- Some films with widespread love that just missed nominations in various categories: Lady Macbeth, Film Stars Don't Die in Liverpool, A Ghost Story, and Beatriz at Dinner.
- Supporting Actor had the widest spread with 40 performances nominated across all ballots. Stuhlbarg still landed 70% of the ballots' top pick.
- The most mentions without a win: Personal Shopper and mother! with 4 nominations. Shopper will have to suffice with winning last year's Best Unreleased Film category, while mother! was a mere 3 points away from a Sound win.
- Films that missed our Top 10 despite being named Best of the Year by one of our writers: Nocturama, John Wick Chapter 2, Dunkirk, Raw, and Loveless. Nearest nomination misses: The Florida Project in our top ten and Paul Thomas Anderson for Director both missed by a single point.
