Leave No Trace Debra Granik took Best Director at LAFCA for this Indie Spirit nominated father/daughter drama with very fine performances from Ben Foster and Thomasin McKenzie about people living on the margins (and on public land). It's more than worth your 99¢ if you haven't yet seen it.
Hearts Beat Loud -Another father/daughter film, this one about a musically inclined family. Chris is a big fan as we've see in his year in review and in his Soundtracking column.
Street Smart  -A legitimately interesting 80s relic about a reporter, a prositute, and a pimp that we wrote about a few years back. It brought Morgan Freeman his first Oscar nomination.

-Well that certainly was a surprise. And the one free pass you were not supposed to get from me."
