A belated Streaming Roulette. We forgot to share Netflix's new offerings so here we are a week late, surveying new titles by freeze framing films at random places with the scroll bar and whatever comes up first, that's what we share. No cheating.  Whats new on Netflix? Let's see...

I killed your brother.

The Lobster (2015/2016)
"Heartless Woman" absolutely upset me in this movie... but I love the rest of the movie (including that nobody has a name except the main character) which made my top ten list in its year. The Favourite is my new favorite Yorgos Lanthimos now, though. Which is your favorite of his merciless and haunting but sometimes indelibly funny movies: Dogtooth, Alps, The Lobster, Killing of a Sacred Deer, or The Favourite?

Related: Remember that great piece Daniel Walber wrote about The Lobster's phony flowers and production design.

[whispering in foreign languages]

Terminator Salvation (2009)
Anton Yelchin *sniffle*. Sometimes it astoundshow many Terminators we've had when the only movies worth a damn are the first two James Cameron classics. Literally the only thing I remember about this one was that caught-on-audiotape scandal where Christian Bale was bullying and demeaning one of the camera men.

Sometimes fear is the only intelligent response.

Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle (2018)
Ooh, it's the Kaa scene. But sorry Cate Blanchett and ScarJo before you, the best Kaa voice is still Sterling Holloway. It's so subversive to hear the soothing tones of the Winnie the Pooh voice lulling you into doom.

I ♥️Jungle Book '67 so much and there's really no reason to keep remaking when it was done so well in '42, '67, and '94, you know?

Got a table for you, right over here.

Dumplin' (2018)
The only thing I know about this is that Dolly Parton wrote and sings a Globe-nominated song that they're also pushing for an Oscar. Isn't Ginger Minj in it too? It's quite a year for RuPaul's Drag Race alums in the movies.

[zombie groan and screaming]

Shaun of the Dead (2004)
I wish I loved this as much as everyone else but it is amusing.

There was a rumor of a saint who could talk to animals, that they understood and obeyed him.

Happy as Lazzaro (2018)
That shot above reminds me of something out of Zama? I haven't watched this yet but people seem to really love it, including Jason right here and the nominating committee of the European Film Awards. In the end Italy went with Dogman for their Oscar submission though.

So can you help me or not? Please.

The World is Yours (2018)
Isabelle Adjani alert! But this appears to be a crime drama mostly about men. Merde.
