Ex Machina

Alex Garland's intriguing sci-fi flick Ex Machina. Is it "great" or "slightly flat"? With Nathaniel R, Katey Rich, Joe Reid, and Amir Soltani (Heavy Spoilers and Reader Questions)

Thanks for the discussion, all. Pointing out the obvious here, that almost all critiques and reviews seem to be from European-heritage people. That is only a possible explanation for the lack of attention to the topic addressed here. The post below identifies disturbing aspects to Ex Machina, that initially, I thought were simply consistent with character Isaac's misogyny and the whole notion of objectification of women in general, and consistent with given social/cultural defects in society at large. However, according to comments from the director shared by this blogger, I am now concerned about the Alex Garland's own possible arrogance and dismissal of this, which undercuts my original thoughts about the film. Not all objectification is "equal." Please see this post: http://multiasianfamilies.blogspot.com/2015/05/how-ex-machina-abuses-women-of-color.html
