| we are still furious that Sara Bareilles & Brandi Carlisle's gorgeous duet "Something Sour Then Sweet" from Come See Me in the Good Light was passed over but the Music branch is continually the Academy's most embarrassing, for their fetishes (Diane Warren) and their inconsistency in following their own rules. | ||||
| WILL / SHOULD WIN? | ||||
| We maintain that to be deserving you should be vital to your film rather than an afterthought or credits song so the race should be between "Golden" from KPop Demon Hunters and "I Lied To You" from Sinners which both get pride of place in their films and are crucial to selling the narrative that these women are pop stars in the former, and music is transcendent and can literally transport you supernatural effect of the latter in the latter. We think "I Lied to You" SHOULD win but "Golden" WILL. | ||||
