1917 | ALITA BATTLE ANGEL | AVENGERS ENDGAME | GODZILLA KING OF MONSTERS | SPIDER-MAN FAR FROM HOME |
Making the visual fx so invisible is its very special seamless trick | All CGI all the time but this angel is a wonder as are her brutal limb losing battles | epic no E!P!I!C! collision of characters, powers, dimensions, live action, and cgi | Mothra 4ever. The movie itself might not be grand but the kajiru specimes on view sure were. | "I don't think you know what's real, Peter" This team has a ton of fun with the very idea of visual fx. |
Finalists: So wanted to make room for Ad Astra and then there's also Star Wars Rise of Skywalker though we've seen all the latter's tricks befor. Semi Finalists: Missing Link, Shadow, Captain Marvel, Toy Story 4, and Terminator Dark Fate |
Best MakeUp and Hair |

BOMBSHELL |
MALEFICENT MISTRESS OF EVIL |
MIDSOMMAR |
ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD | ROCKETMAN |
The ladies doth prosthetic too much. Haha kidding. They're uncanny and glam and perfect. It's only Ailes who's a bit much. | Broadening the original's horned befeathered fantasy. "Dark fairies" AND Royal Pfeiffer? Yes please. | Limp pathetic cultural tourists, Nordic naturalism, and... well... gore. Plus that memorable inbred Oracle. | Flop sweat stardom, on set hairpieces, California cool, New Hollywood glamour... and those dirty barefoot hippies. | Rapidly thinning hair, gap tooth charm, and other Taron-becoming-Eltonisms. Plus period work galore. |
Finalists: a mass ensemble of fantastical folk with bonus points for Black Widow's stages-of-grief hair Avengers Endgame , and a more explicitly clowny take on the Clown prince of crime in Joker. Semi Finalists: Downton Abbey, Us, Harriet, Judy, and Dolemite is My Name |
