WHO SHOULD WIN? READER'S CHOICE.
CHLOE ZHAO was your preference by a huge margin with 64% of your votes
HOW'D I DO ON MY PREDICTIONS?
4/5 We feared Aaron Sorkin, who glided through precursors would be nominated. Mostly because devotion hadn't seemed o coalesce behind any one the MANY competitors for the fifth slot.
WHO WAS LEFT OUT? | ||||
Aaron Sorkin and Regina King who both had precursor support, Spike Lee and Kelly Reichardt felt like early possibilities for Da 5 Bloods and First Cow but the precursors (and critics awards) mostly abandoned them, and Florian Zeller (Sound of Metal) and Darius Marder (Sound of Metal) who both felt lik they were rising in probability.
WHO WILL WIN? | ||||
This is Chloe Zhao's to lose. She'll be the second female winner and the first Asian woman to win. Two previous Asians have won Best Director (Ang Lee twice and Bong Joon Ho)
WHO SHOULD WIN? NATHANIEL'S CHOICE
Given my own ballot, you've guessed that I feel Chloe Zhao and Lee Isaac Chung are most deserving of these five.
HOW'D THEY GET NOMINATED? (COMING SOON)
