WHAT WILL WIN?

It looks like a contest between Roma, which has the lead for director and most nominations and critical prizes, the populist appeal of A Star is Born (though that star seems to be fading) or the humor and road trip lightness of Green Book

WHAT SHOULD WIN?

Yorgos Lanthimos' original, biting, hilarious, and surprising palace intrigue triangle The Favourite.

WHAT WAS LEFT OUT?

The nominations went as expected here but various pundits believed that either First Man, If Beale Street Could Talk, Cold War or A Quiet Place was right outside the list.
