June 2011 Screening Log
That remains to be seen, doesn't it? Actually just writing today and then attending a networking thing with film critics.
Need to spend the entire weekend at the movie theater and get caught up I think. But for today, I think more writing to get caught up. I maybe don't want to think about how it's always "catching up" and never ahead of the game.
<--- 3 Friday Night Lights. I am going to miss this show so much when it's gone. I already feel a welling sadness. In fact, I subverted a whole red carpet conversation in order to cry about it.
X-Men: First Class. Another "origin" doesn't anyone want to get on with it already. Stop starting: get going! My review. Hilariously later that evening I watched Tarzan and His Mate only to discover it's the exact same movie as Tarzan the Ape Man. Hollywood has been rebooting its popular stuff forever.
-6 Threw my back out. :( Ended up watching too much MTV including the first two episodes of Teen Wolf. On the night of my actual birth, June 6th, one of my friends texted me that he was watching MY WEEK WITH MARILYN. He has not informed me what he thought or how he got in (I'm assuming test screening). I know official hate him.
nothing. Though I did finally write up that piece on THE OTHER WOMAN... and the accompanying comic strip is a true story.
Went to see Sandra Bernhard at Town Hall with special guests Liza Minnelli, Rufus Wainwright and Justin Bond as guests. (Cheyenne Jackson was RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME as we filed in -- and somehow even better looking and younger looking up close -- but I decided it would be rude to touch him. Boundaries!) Oddly, the duets within the show were my least favorite part of the show despite my excitement to see four of my favorite performers on the same stage.
-16 Gah. Forgot to update again. Been seeing too much Teen Wolf (via MTV). Watched Show Business: The Road to Broadway, a documentary on the Tony Awards and mounting new shows. Very enjoyable if you are interested in the subject matter but way too unfocused random to be an excellent documentary. Also watched part of Blithe Spirit, the oldie -- liked it but fell asleep. Spent some quality reunion time with Peggy Sue Got Married (write up) and Green Lantern (reviewed).
Today I haven't been consuming things with my eyes. How strange of me. But for the new Lady Gaga video "Edge of Glory" which is... okay. I like that it's paired down but it feels a little too pared down so I'm not surprised to hear that they changed their concept halfway through.
CARS 2 oy. Next time someone says that Pixar can do no wrong, I'm going to slap them.
- 25 er.... ah... things got a little crazy what with gay pride celebrating and whatnot. I can't really remember but I did watch some more episodes of WONDER FALLS which I really like. I'm trying to get through it so my friend who was pushing it on me ... I can return the favor with PUSHING DAISIES which he has miraculously not seen. Given his love for Wonder Falls, don't you think it's a must? Also I'm nearing the end of Friday Night Lights and my heart continues to weep over its future absence.
After the Pride parade the Season Premiere of True Blood called "She's Not There".
Watched I AM NUMBER FOUR for reasons that I can't fathom... which gives those reasons something in common with the plot!
