Who Will Win?
JOAQUIN PHOENIX looks to have this locked up delivering a buzzy show-off performance in a billion dollar grosser. Curiously Heath Ledger's previous historic win for this rolee doesn't seem to have hampered him in the slightest.
Who Should Win?

It was the tightest acting race poll with readers preferring Antonio Banderas (35%) to Adam Driver (30%) and the eventual winner Joaquin Phoenix wasn't far behind with 27%s.

Who Got Stiffed?
Who didn't? It was a hugely competitive race for these five nominations. Critics tried to rally for ADAM SANDLER (Uncut Gems) at the last minute, TARON EGERTON (Rocketman) had a hit film and a hard-working campaign and EDDIE MURPHY (Dolemite is My Name) was a popular dream nominee back in October but in both cases the Academy was unusually harsh on films that opened before the November/December glut. ROBERT DENIRO (The Irishman) never got traction despite leading a big Oscar player.
