Superman and the Spit Curl

Another week, another "first look!" at another superhero. This is Henry Cavill as Superman in Zach Snyder's upcoming film Man of Steel (2013). Cavill looks fine but for the lack of eyebrows. I don't remember Cavill or Superman being eyebrow free in previous incarnatians. And of course I miss that dangly lock of Super hair that Kal-El is always rocking. There are some classics you just don't mess with... like spit curls. I can't prove it but I think that if you lop off the spit curl that's as good as making his cape out of a polykryptonite blend. He'll be down for the count in no time.

Spit Curls forever! Is what I'm saying.

Shouting, actually.

He looks like Mitt Romney.

Don't like this photo at all. Why is his suit so scaly? But as for the spit curl, I'm pretty sure I saw another picture with him dressed as Clark Kent and the spit curl was present!

Why does he look so evil? Normally you would scream with joy that Superman has arrived, but from the looks of this pic, you'd scream because you're about to be murdered.

But i think we should wait until there's a crotch shot. Seriously. It might pull the whole look together.

he has eyebrows it just looks like he doesnt because his head is tilted down.

Meh, I like that he looks different. Nothing is so iconic that it cannot be tampered with.

Yes, It might be the angle but first I thought is why is Superman on chemo? It doesn't look right. He is such a beautiful man. Don't mess with his eyebrows.

That scaly look seems to be the new superhero standard. Perhaps he's so angry because that rubber suit is really hot, especially when someone is welding nearby, and he just longs for Reeves cotton pajama-look?

As for the other Spit Curl-pictures: Rupert Everett in Maurice = SIGH

Mysjkin -- i almost made the post about that "superhero standard" instead. it's so depressing how once somebody does one look successfully everyone copies it. Remember how many genre movies used black leather / vinyl as their defininig look (even superhero movies) after The Matrix!?

BO-RING.

I wish Edna would sweep in and go: "You're a superhero, you need to be unique dahling!" :)

Ooops, my bad! I have just finished A. S. Byatts "The Childrens' Book" which gave me flashbacks to "Another Country", a film I often associate with "Maurice", hence my Rupert confusion :)

they just don't make "Ruperts" anymore and this saddens me since i LOVE them both.
