Say What Shai'?

Last night when The SAG Award for Ensemble cast was announced ("And the actor goes to... The Help")  Shailene Woodley turned to a shrugging George Clooney and held up two fingers.

What was that conversation?

Amuse us by transcribing it in the comments.

I think she was saying something along the lines of "You lost twice tonight!" He seems to be the type of person you could joke around with like that.

this caught my attention too but what enthralled me the most was the jolie-swinton convo during end credits. what diabolical plans does the white witch and (soon to be) malefacient hatching?

You were robbed twice tonight!

When I saw it, I thought that Shailene triumphed in two bets with Clooney. Maybe the cast of The Descendants had a SAG pool or something.

jane lynch also had a reaction when "modern family" won the ensemble award.
did anyone catch that?

It's not impolite to do that in America, right? On the other side of the Atlantic, that gesture is middle-finger equivalent. It obviously really shocked that lady in the background- she's turned white as a sheet!

This at least looked funny. Owen Wilson looking uncharitably dumbfounded by The Help's victory was more ...awkward.

in Great Britain, what she does is very rude

I think it was something along the lines of "I can't believe this movie gets TWO supporting actress nominations and I get none!!"

George: Oh well, we lost, but I'll always have my charisma and star power!
Shailene: Ha! Two more years, George, two, and Fassbender will be mopping the red carpet with your magnetism!

I agree with addewitt...I would have killed a bunny rabbit to have been sitting with Tilda and Angelina...I am very, very curious to know what they were talking about!

I agree with Nick, Owen Wilson's dumfounded expression was awkward. I was like "Calm down...you were probably the least likely to win.."

"Don’t worry, we still got two more awards to come, the Indie Awards and BAFTA."

SVG and caro - I've read that what she's doing is the equivalent of "flipping the bird" as we say in the US (middle finger), but most Americans aren't aware of that; to us it's an unremarkable gesture indicating "2" (I think it also used to be used to indicate "tv attenna" back in the day.) Unless Shai is indeed European or aware of the gesture and is flipping George the bird? Not likely.

'V' for vendetta?

I agree with the "You lost twice tonight!" or "Ha! You got 2nd place!" vein.
