Standby

FYI that tonights episode of 'Hit Me' featuring the Depression Era Barrow gang (Warren and Faye and Gene and Estelle!) will be up really late - in the wee hours. Have a last minute chance to see Audra McDonald in Porgy & Bess on Broadway and can't miss.

In the meantime... What's on your mind? Share.

I've been listening to MDNA constantly since the release on Monday. Nathaniel, you should do a post on it with your thoughts! Curious to know what you think of it. I think it's a mixed bag - that first half is pretty hit and miss though Gang Bang is loads of fun - but the last 5 or so tracks are good to great and I absolutely love Love Spent and Falling Free.

Definitely better than Hard Candy, though I wish it was as consistently wonderful as Confessions on a Dance Floor.

I saw "Porgy and Bess" in December, and Audra was absolutely phenomenal, though Norm Lewis and David Alan Grier impressed me as well (especially Grier).

What I have been completely obsessed with for the past few days is the idea of Toni Collette as Madame Rose in whatever new film version of "Gypsy" currently being planned. There are so many things about her casting that seems so right to me. I think I would die at a chance to witness her tear into "Everything's Coming up Roses" and "Rose's Turn." Seriously. I need someone to make this happen.

This is completely off topic, but I've been trying to go back and listen to your earlier podcasts, both on iTunes and your old Film Experience Blog site. But neither of them work : ( Is this just my computer, or is it the same for everyone?
