Tall Tales. Short Links

Village Voice the five most dream-like sequences from the John Travolta sex-assault allegations. (Hint: The comment section is hi-lar-ious. I especially love the pizza delivery analogy)
YouTube has one of those Taiwanese "news" animations about it.
When Obama Endorsed Marriage Equality... (gif parties ahead -- love the '95 Clueless shout-out)
La Daily Musto Tippi Hedren (of The Birds fame) claims that Alfred Hitchcock put the kabosh on her Best Actress Oscar nomination for their follow up Marnie . Um, Tippi... how would he do that exactly? Ol' Hitch didn't even have enough pull with AMPAS to win one for himself!

I assume that Barbie is custom made but ugh I would kill, KILL, to have that doll on my shelf!

That Barbie actually exists. I gave one to my niece for Xmas a couple of years ago.

Nathaniel, the article says that the nomination kill was for "Marnie", not "The Birds".

"Apparently I was up for a nomination for Marnie, and Hitchcock killed it."

Yavor -- oopsie. But the point still stands.

I'm not sure if it does, they did award him with 5 nominations for Direction, and many of his films were recognized with nominations as well.

She was referring to a nomination alone, not a win.

I haven't even seen "Marnie" but to me she was classier and much more mysterious in "The Birds" than Grace Kelly was in "Rear Window"/"To Catch a Thief".

Wasn't one of those stories that build up Hitchcock reputation, that he gave Melanie Griffith a doll dressed like her mother in The Birds... in a coffin? That makes that real Barbie doll even creepier.

Also, I think that even if you have no power to be rewarded yourself, almost anyone has enough power to boycott someone else's campaign. Just spread the word that someone is difficult to work with, and it's done. So, it wouldn't surprise me at all, in this case. And at the same time, who would be Tippi Hedren without Hitchcock?

Iggy -- if being "difficult" was all it took, several people wouldn't have won the nominations that they did. But i get your point ;)
