Mr & Mr Ben Whishaw!

Congratulations to Ben Whishaw who confirms he's gay and happily married to Mark Bradshaw, the composer.

Whishaw & Bradshaw

Here's a cute trivia note that too few sites will mention: Bradshaw scored Whishaw's rare romantic leading man gig in Bright Star (2009) where the actor played the poet John Keats. Good god that movie is underappreciated... except for here at TFE where it won multiple nominations in its year. If it brought them together it's even more lovely in retrospect.

Bradshaw recently scored the Emmy-nominated miniseries Top of the Lake (it's mesmerizing - watch it!) and Whishaw will next be seen in Terry Gilliam's Zero Theorem, the next James Bond film reprising his "Q" role, and possibly a Ron Howard picture called In the Heart of the Sea

I really think he is one of the best young actors of the moment. His performance in Bright Star is impecable and full of heart. Every time I saw that movie (for me, the very best of 2009) I fall in love more and more with his performance. I nominated him as best actor that year, sometimes I want to take off Jeremy Renner's thropy and give it to Ben. I want to see more of him and I am very happy to know that he is happy.

I absolutely love the news (and that picture).

That score to Bright Star, though not very long and occurring in little bits and blops, is lovely. What a cute development that Whishaw fell in love with its composer.

Good for him!

But is Zero Theorem REALLY the title of the next Bond film? Gah, that could be the worst Bond title EVER.

Joseph: Zero Theorem is the next Terry Gilliam movie (it's in competition at Venice.) That there's a list of three. :)

I know people hate on it, but I loved Cloud Atlas and I thought he gave a great performance.

Oh man! And Ben Whishaw should've TOTALLY been Emmy-nominated for his wondrous work on THE HOUR this past TV season. They could've been both Emmy-nominated this year and walked the red carpet together or something. SIGH.

Because I sort of like to stalk him every now and then, I knew that he had been in a romantic relationship with Bradshaw for a couple of years, but I didn't know that THEY GOT HITCHED. This makes me so happy (even though I'm still kind of in love with him).
