Best Supporting Actress 1993!
Victor S: Me too, but then the only other turns I can think of that I'd nominate for supporting actress would be Catherine O'Hara and Gong Li. If I really felt I had to fill the category, I'd maybe go for Laura Dern (Jurassic Park) and Embeth Davidtz (Schindler's List), but those (Dern especially, because she's the fifth best performance in a movie that doesn't really care how good the actors may be, after Attenborough, Goldblum, Neill and Jackson) are really stretching. I'd still take at least one of those four, though, over Winona in Age of Innocence.
I loved her in this role. My favorite was when she and the brother did Shakespeare for the school talent show complete with dismemberment and blood.
I love that moment in the film. I was hoping she would really burn that blonde bitch.
The Shakespeare scene is actually from the first Addams Family movie, this is from the sequel, but yeah, that's a great one too.
As much as I love Christina Ricci in this movie, I'll stick with that year's actual winner for Best Supporting Actress: Anna Paquin in The Piano, who also offers some great moments of screen bitchery, even if they're not as delicious as this one (mostly because it's a very different kind of film, and her job was to believably convey the confusion and envy of a daughter watching her mother find happiness away from her)...
