Finally...
By know you've probably read that Amy Adams has confirmed what those  leaked Sony emails suggested that she was quite unhappy on the set of American Hustle. It was her second film with David. O. Russell but I suspect there won't be a third given what she told British GQ.

I was really just devastated on set. I mean, not every day, but most. Jennifer [Lawrence] doesn’t take any of it on. She’s Teflon. And I am not Teflon. But I also don’t like to see other people treated badly.. It’s not ok with me. Life to me is more important than movies. It really taught me how to separate work and home. Because I was like, I cannot bring this experience home with me to my daughter.

I don't know what it is about Amy Adams and her daughter... I just find her really really hard to like.

That being said, David O'Russell is a dick. Him, AGI and Quentin Tarantntino can fall down a hole for the next few years I think.

I, too, was devastated by American Hustle.

Fun Home would make an amazing movie. Accessible, and the source material is so thorough that the stage to screen transition can always be filled in from there. I haven't seen the show live; I just know the cast recording.

sadly, there's no possible way to describe kursk as a survival drama

The fact that these kinds of stories about Russell's behavior on set have long plagued him (Three Kings, I Hear Huckabees, and now American Hustle) is exactly why his films can get multiple nominations but he's never come close to winning. Consider that Russell has had THREE films up for Picture and Director over a 4 year period, it's really surprising that there's never been an "It's Time" narrative or even a consolation Screenplay win for him. And overall his films have been scoring less and less with Oscar (2 wins for The Fighter, 1 win for Silver Linings Playbook, 0 wins for American Hustle and just 1 nomination for Joy). These are all clear indicators that he is not beloved in the industry and until changes his awful reputation, he may never win an Oscar.

Interesting interview with Amy Adams, I happen to like her more than most on this site. But even if she isn't your favourite actress it is significant for her to be this honest.

She's has enormous self control, and normally never says an unkind word about anything. So for her to make any criticism, means Russell's behaviour must have been extremely difficult to take. And she's very careful to praise Lawrence...

I cannot praise Sarah Paulson enough for her portrayal of Marcia Clark, and I LOVE "The People V. O.J. Simpson - it's fabulous.

BD--me too lol.

March 3, 2016 | Unregistered Commenterbrookesboy

par: Oh. Everyone died? The survival story frame work is becoming a common attempt at Oscar bait (Gravity, The Martian, The Revenant), so I should have expected that a "no one lives" disaster would be green-lit as a movie.

March 3, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterVolvagia

Adams is a pro because she was excellent in American Hustle no matter how bad the set was. And she was awesome in The Fighter, too. The set must have been awful but she owes Russell her two best performances.

LadyEdith- I agree with you about Ms Adams. I honestly don't recall her being seriously critical of anyone or project she was involved in.

I hate that O'Russell is such a dick...especially since he's such an actor's director. I never hate his films even though I hate the man.

March 3, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterMojo

Goddamnit, BD beat me to it. Haaaaate that movie and Adams being so miserable is validation of its evil.

March 3, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterAR

Farrah Fawcett was in the original cut of Death Becomes Her, so hopefully all the extra extra stuff will be in it. One of my favorite favorite Movie Movies!!!

March 3, 2016 | Unregistered Commenterforever1267

AR: I don't. There's moments that really flop (the Live or Let Die scene), and it's definitely not The Sting, but I don't hate it.

March 3, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterVolvagia

Say what you will about Amy Adams, but I love her and think she is amazing in her movies. Plus she really seems like a nice person in real life.

March 3, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterCraver

Per the Sony leaks, it got so bad that Christian Bale stood up to O'Russell for being a dick to Amy.
Good for her on speaking up about it.
Unfortunately, I don't think Amy would have said anything had that not already leaked out, I bet she gets asked about it constantly. It makes me wonder how many other actresses that have worked with him feel the same way but haven't said anything (especially smaller name actresses that don't have much stardom)..

I would love a Fun Home film. I feel it could be a really inventive film if the could creatively incorporate the drawing of the graphic novel it's based on. Plus it would be a really unique film with nothing quite like it.

March 3, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterBrian

Didn't David O. Russell try to headlock Christopher Nolan over trying to get an actor Nolan was working with for another film or something? If he was doing that to me, he'd walk out of the room on a fucking stretcher.

March 3, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterSteven

Only the overrated Jennifer Lawrence is thirsty enough to work with David O Russell.

March 3, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterAveryStepfon

That actually makes me like Amy Adams a lot more (to be honest, the break from her this year has made my negative feelings toward her subside a lot); poor thing.

It's so crazy to think about how many actors or actresses are getting like awards nominations and stuff and they show up and everyone's praising the film and their performance and their feelings about the film are quite negative because of behind the scenes drama. It's really interesting to think about juicy gossip we'll never know about.

The DBH blu ray has none of the scenes in the trailer but not in the film, but it's a camp classic, flops do find a home somewhere.

March 4, 2016 | Unregistered Commentermark

mark -- ugh the new collectors edition won't have them either? I was hoping to see those.

March 4, 2016 | Registered CommenterNATHANIEL R

Didn't David O. Russell try to headlock Christopher Nolan over trying to get an actor Nolan was working with for another film or something?

This actually happened at a Hollywood house party in front of many witnesses behind David wanting Jude Law for his movie. Because of this Law has yet to appear in a Nolan movie.

March 4, 2016 | Unregistered Commenter/3rtful

Afraid not,I have been waiting for years to see them.

March 4, 2016 | Unregistered Commentermark

Thanks so much for linking that interview with Anya. What an incredible girl. There is such optimism and joy in her words

March 4, 2016 | Unregistered Commentersati

The Nolan/Russell headlock was over The Prestige and I Heart Huckabees. Surprised he didn't get a slap.

The biggest loser turns out to be Jude Law considering Nolan's preference for reusing cast members.
