Love is complicated for Keira Knightley

by Murtada

It seems that Jason Clarke has cornered the market on playing husbands whose wives look elsewhere in 2017. That is one of the plot threads of the Sundance hit Mudbound where Carey Mulligan plays his wife, who has eyes for his brother played by Garrett Hedlund. And now in the The Aftermath he’s a British colonel in Germany right after WWII, whose wife (Keira Knightley) forms a bond with the German widower (Alexander Skarsgård) who used to own the house they now live in. The film just finished shooting in Prague under the helm of James Kent (Testament to Youth). It might appear on the fall festival circuit.

Knightley was seen this week in London shooting scenes for that Love Actually sequel we’ve been hearing so much about...

No it’s not a real sequel; actually it’s a short film being released as a part of this year’s Red Nose Day, a telethon that raises money for the charity Comic Relief. The event was first held in the U.K. in 1988; it has since expanded to the U.S., where the telecast is broadcast by NBC.

Most of the original cast is back: Hugh Grant, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Colin Firth, Liam Neeson, Bill Nighy, Andrew Lincoln, and Rowan Atkinson. The Knightley-Ejiofor-Lincoln love triangle seems to still endure 13 years on. Lincoln still has those damn cue cards too. So he still has the hots for his best friend's wife after all those years? How are you going to make this tricky situation cute, Richard Curtis? We will know when the reunion short premieres across the pond on March 24 and in the U.S. May 25.

This is all well and good but what we really want to know is when Knightley will start shooting that Colette bio-pic that got us excited more than a year ago. That's bound to have a few tricky love triangles as well.

Rank these Keira projects in order of anticipation!

I mean, it's hard to argue against Hedlund and Skarsgard, but Clarke is also a catch, people! Although I guess that's what will make those love triangles a bit more tense, the fact that the lady in the middle has two handsome men to choose from.

I love her. Unlike some actresses in her age bracket she's a very generous scene partner. Unafraid to share the screen. I just wish she would have more fun like Begin Again! It's a shame she has a lot of haters. I feel she's underrated because she's overrated - if that makes sense.

There is an interview with Christine Vachon on Screendaily from last week which mentioned that Colette goes into production this coming Spring.

john - that interview is why i still have faith it will happen. It's the only sign the movie is still on.

I really enjoy Comic Relief & the projects they do for Red Nose Day. It will be a treat to see the cast again. Keira Knightley has had some great husbands, she was married to Jason Clarke in Everest where he died on the mountain.
I am looking forward to Colette the most but Knightley usually has pretty good taste in scripts so glad to see that she's working.

The Duchess performance is very underrated.

Love Knightley. Thought she should have won the Oscar for The Imitation Game.

She was clearly at her best in Pride and Prejudice (head and shoulders above everything else really). Only time I woulda nomes her but she also has some gems at just the next level (Begin again, laggers, atonement, Karenina etc).

She also had a great supporting part in the very very very underrated Never Let Me Go.

Another sign that Colette is still on.
