Black Panther Teases

Having recently returned from Disney World, where 'The Festival of the Lion King' earwormed that soundtrack into my brain again, I find myself frantically trying to rewrite "I Just Can't Wait to Be King" for Prince T'Challa (Chadwick Boseman) who we last saw mourning his king and proving something of a surprise moral center to the squabbling superheroes of Captain America: Civil War (2016).

Sing it with me...

It's Hard for a Good Man To Be King 🎵"

Marvel Studios has gone and made its first movie without a white guy named Chris in the lead role (kidding) and from 112 seconds of evidence we have, they made a great decision hiring exciting young director Ryan Coogler (hot off Fruitvale Station and Creed) to direct. The movie is still an excruciating 251 days away still (February 16th, 2018) but the teaser and the poster for Marvel's sure-to-be smash hit The Black Panther have arrived after the jump...

THE POSTER

THE TEASER

Don't you kind of wish there were only teasers and not multiple full trailers? This is mouth watering and really pops but leaves you feeling like you haven't seen the movie and you want to. So many trailers it's like "welp, that was a good/bad/okay movie and I just saw it for free. Next!"

FAVORITE BITS

So much to choose from but given that there's only one blurry shot of white haired Angela Bassett serving We Told Ya You Shoulda Cast Her As Storm 17 Years Ago realness, it's a toss up between any shot of Michael B Jordan giving deliciously sassy hair and restrained scowling or the constant presence of bad ass bitches surrounding the king: Lupita Nyong'o, Danai Gurira, Florence Kasumba.

Fun fact: This film is not only an immediate reunion for Ryan Coogler and Michael B Jordan post Creed but also an immediate follow-up reunion for Nyong'o and Gurira. Gurira is best known to the public for her series regular role on The Walking Dead but she's also a fine playwright. Nyong'o was Best Actress Tony nominated just last season for starring in Gurira's Eclipsed on Broadway.

In the words of Ms. Onika "Nicki Minaj" Maraj:

Bad Bitches like these actresses is hard to come by.

I was in when I saw the poster for totally hormonal reasons, but the trailer also looks great. Solidly a "Yes"

Superhero fatigue -- haven't seen any of the movies since Avengers 2 -- but I'll make an exception for this one. What a cast and crew.

Not sure what to think of this trailer

However Coogler + the greatness we saw of Boseman in his debut as the black panther bodes very well in and of themselves. Fingers crossed

@caroline You should watch "Ant Man" (extremely funny comedy), "Dr. Strange" (THOSE visuals + Tilda Swinton) and "Captain America: Civil War" (so grand that you can forgive the unlikelyhood of the overall plot, same case than in The Dark Knight).
