Beauty Break: Steve Carell

The internet has been blowing up over the last week about something that plenty of us had already noticed: That Steve Carell is now very handsome.

This author does not need to point out that beauty standards are as exacting and skewered as they've always been, but I'm sure we can all come to some bipartisan agreement that nerds becoming gorgeous before our very eyes is a good thing.

More visual evidence after the jump.

During the release of "Foxcatcher" in 2014.

The image that got the internet talking.

The man sure can wear a pair of glasses...

...and makes the ukulele almost tolerable.

What's the verdict? Are there any other true babes who've been under our noses without realising? Own up to your weird crushes now...

He is a good-looking man. Yet, he'll always be my sweet beloved Brick to me.

Sexy silver fox.

Yes he is

No.

In the first picture he looks like an aged Ryan Gosling.

I don't really see it with Steve Carell.

That being said, I think Ben Mendelsohn is an undervalued sex symbol. Even if the characters he plays aren't very sexy, there's something so alluring about him.

I've kinda had a crush on him since The 40 Year Old Virgin, which came out when I was about 16/17 so I don't know what that says about me, but he's definitely morphed into a silver fox over the past few years. I think I first took notice around Foxcatcher.

A handsome man comes from his personality traits. NOT from
his physical traits

I dated a very handsome star and after 2 months found him ugly.

No more info.

This seriously happened a decade ago. https://twitter.com/glenndunks/status/880015342466080769

that's what she said!

That first picture kind of looks like an old Chris Evans a tiny bit

Oh I no longer have to hide it? Thank god!
I had a think for him even in 40YO Virgin.

I also think he's a great actor when not actively hunting for awards. (Albeit admittedly terrible when he is.)

Sooo good looking. Glad he no longer has to hide it. He was brilliant in Foxcatcher.

@Matt - physically Ben is kinda ugly (as far as movie stars go anyway) but he has a shitload of charisma and sex appeal. Sex appeal is often separate from physical beauty. Ben is a good example of that.

No thank you.

I have found Steve adorable since playing Brick, but he really won me over with Frank in Little Miss Sunshine.
James Cromwell is a total fox.

I second the Ben Mendelsohn mention!

unsurprising, honestly... he's maturing gracefully. Hope he continues to spread his talent in wisely chosen projects as "Little Miss Sunshine", "Foxcatcher" or "The Big Short" and doesn't limit to the most b.o. appealling comedies. He could have 3 Oscar noms already, and only has one... a bit sad.
