Red Carpet Lineup: Best Supporting Actress!

Annual Mandatory Beauty Posting / Polling

We've already written up their performances and talked them up at length in the Supporting Actress Smackdown so now let's discuss the gowns. Are you a red latex fan or torn between pristine or shimmery white beaded structured gowns? Perhaps your taste runs more toward classic maroon frills and floof. Or wait... I know some of you thrill to a waffle cone/snake skin/avant garde/1940s/rockyhorror something or other, don'cha? Vote and discuss, plz.

This has to be the best dressed acting category at the Oscars.

Regina looked absolutely divine!

February 26, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterAndrew Carden

They all looked fantastic - even amy adams decided to put a bit of effort into the occasion which was good of her!

I’m obsessed with Emma and especially Rachel - That latex look has me all kinds of weird feeling but I love it - it’s what fashion is meant to don

February 26, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterMorgan

Every single one of these ladies killed it. Was hard to pick between the five of them.

February 26, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterAaron

I can't stand Rachel Weisz's latex maternity look.

February 26, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterDeborah Lipp

Rachel IS Fashion.

February 26, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterHustler

As soon as I saw Rachel Weisz's look, it was my fav of the entire evening. Mixed classic and daring--she slayed. What a gorgeous creature.

February 26, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterPhilip H.

Regina looked like a winner, but I also love Marina's dress.

Too bad that all nominees in leading category disappointed me, even Gaga.

February 26, 2019 | Unregistered Commenterpawel

Also thought Amy Adams looked more dazzling than usual, she was lookin' a little juicier in all the right areas.

My ranking:
1. Rachel Weisz
2. Amy Adams
3. Regina King
4. Marina de Tavira
5. Emma Stone

February 26, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterPhilip H.

Emma Stone looks stunning. Easily one of my faves because not only is it unique looking it’s also beautiful.

February 26, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterBrian

Emma Stone looked absolutely awful.

February 26, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterEmma

Love Emma's in theory, but is something wonky with the fit? Everyone here looks gorgeous, but I have to throw my vote to Rachel for taking the biggest risk. I'm so fascinated by her star persona: she seems so reserved in interviews, but then she shows up to a red carpet in THIS? Divine!

February 26, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterAdrian S-G

Marina de Tavira - what a romantic beauty!

February 26, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterTyler

Regina King was just classical.

February 26, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterRob

Amy Adams was doing Marion dress a few years back. One of Amy's best looks at the oscars

Rachel looked FASHION, Regina looked like a winner in white, Marina with a classic and looked beautiful. Emma tried something different and it worked.

Strong 5

February 26, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterXavier

Regina gets my vote, but this is one of the best Amy Adams looks ever.

February 26, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterPeggy Sue

They all legit look incredible...but my vote goes to Weisz...by a hair.

1) Weisz
2) Stone
3) de Tavira
4) King
5) Adams

But really, they all look stunning so there is no last place here.

February 26, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterDrew

As others have said all 5 chose well, and I'm torn between Amy, Regina and Marina who chose a classic look but nailed it and looked fabulous. Or I could go with Emma or Rachel who pushed the envelope a little but still looked super. (Rachel going with sixties looking vinyl and Emma with the waffle gown.)
Amy was looking particularly movie starish but bonus points to Emma Stone for pushing herself and going with the "Waffle Gown". Destined to be a gown that people remember.

February 26, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterLadyEdith

Style note, Rachel is wearing Givenchy and that red vinyl is very similar to the looks done for Audrey Hepburn in "Two for the Road". This material is striking but maybe looks better as a mini dress or coat. Still nice throwback.

February 26, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterLadyEdith

Amy is usually a bit blah, like she's just come from a play date, this looks great on her,Marina is channeling Penelope Cruz,Rachel is a Venus in Latex,Emma is very daring for once, usually she just blends in with the background and the best Regina, simple and flawless,on point hair and shoes.

February 26, 2019 | Unregistered Commentermarkgordonuk

Among the best lineups all around in a long time. They complement each other too.

1. Weisz
2. De Tavira
3. King
4. Stone
5. Adams

February 26, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterJ

Not crazy about any of these looks. Usually I love Emma’s style but this is just a bad color for her. Too harsh. I voted for Marina.

February 26, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterDavid L.

Regina King looked like a million bucks, head to toe. She came dressed to win, and hers started the evening on such a high note before the inevitable crash (Bohemian Rhapsody) and burn (Green Book).

February 26, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterMareko

Amy Adams was looking thicc as fuck and may have momentarily made gay men straight and straight women gay. Yay for Adams!

Regina King was royalty upon royalty (she's a Queen King, after all) and SHOWED UP to show all the other peasants how it's done. Classy, a little sassy, and very very sexy.

Emma Stone showed up in a fucking waffle cone dress. Even disregarding my dislike of Stone, this dress is a massive misfire, looking like something some poor alien dreamt up with it's too large 80's shoulder pads, scoop neck waffle cone design. What the fuck? Was she craving ice cream or syrup? She may have been trying to push the sartorial envelope, but this isn't avant garde in a good way; it's simply fucking ugly and will not age well. Hell, it's not looking good now and will simply be snickered at years from now.

February 26, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterBlinking Cursor

Amy Adams is smoking hot here! she’d be my number 1 (has she ever looked better). Weisz took a risk amd it paid off.

February 26, 2019 | Unregistered Commenteranonny

When are the acting nominees being announced lol?

February 26, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterMe

Best: Marina in the gorgeous lace ruffles muti-tier dress. She looks every inch a movie star!!

Worst: Emma's waffle dress comes w it's own maple syrup shine!! 😂

I'm on the fence w Rachel's. It's edgy fashion but latex on Oscar night seems meh to me.

February 27, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterClaran

Haha. Amy Adams is totally the white version of "thicc as fuck" One up from sample size, she so voluptuous, curves for days.

February 27, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterClinking Bursor

It's interesting, with the television boom in the last 10 or so years, we've had three winners known mostly for their great television successes win supporting at the Oscars in the last 5 years.. Arquette, Janney, King. Maybe a new trend, conquer television and nab a great supporting film role. Edie Falco, step right up.

February 27, 2019 | Unregistered Commenter/3rtful

Regina King looked like an Academy Award winning actress.
