Beauty Break: Kate Winslet

My friend Matt calls this "Mildred Fierce". I concur. The photoshoot is by Mario Testino for Lancome. Pretty pretty pretty and platinum.
I'm totally missing Kate. Stepping out of the spotlight for two years post Oscar win was a great career move. Now, I've gotta find a friend who'll host a Mildred Pierce party when the miniseries arrives on HBO on March 27th so that I'm not months behind.

I keep forgetting what a fine cast that the miniseries has because I get so caught up in the Winslet directed by Todd Haynes thing. It's not just Kate. He's serving up Evan Rachel Wood, Melissa Leo, Mare Winningham, Brian F. O'Byrne and Guy Pearce.
Trivia: This is the second time Winslet's had the surname of Pierce in a movie. She was Sarah Pierce in Little Children (2006). And that's not even accounting for the terrible things she did to Sarah Peirse's character in Heavenly Creatures (1994). The name just haunts her. Maybe she should guest star as Brittany S. Pierce's mom or aunt on Glee?

Tangential: I wonder if Meryl will ever end up on Glee, what with her well-known singing voice.
Greek TV sucks! A couple of days ago they mentioned the fact that she accepted airbrushing (I hope it's the right word) her face for that lancome ad. I think she only had problem with changing her body, not the wrinkles. And it's not like she could tell them what to do.
And yes, it was a good career choice. And the directors she chose for her three new projects (Haynes, Polanski, Soderbergh)...wow!

Can't wait for MILDRED PIERCE especially since seeing the original. Joan Crawford deserved her Oscar.

I wish she weren’t making the virus movie with Boring Berg. Kate like Leo can live off the commercial success of Titanic for the rest of their careers.
Where’s her von Trier entry? Maybe someone should suggest her for a David Lynch DV experimental feature? Kate hasn’t worked with Mike Nichols –or Alexander Payne –or Woody Allen (actually I’d prefer Blanchett in an Allen movie since he’s made the request for her in a quote found on her IMDB write-up.)
Hey Nathaniel if you do find a Mildred Pierce party can you invite me, i only live 3346 miles away! Its airing in the UK Iin June, and even then its only exclusive to people who have Sky, which i don't.

Ok...I'm totally caught..I was looking to see if anyone responded to a another post I made and I happened to stumble upon this response...
Weeeelllllll...Nathaniel...at the time I wrote this I had not seen Please Give and The Town...now that I've seen those two films I think it is safe to say I am slowly but surely falling in love with Becky Hall. I think she has cornered the market on the wounded, socially awkward beauty...we want more sexy powerful Rebecca, a la Frost/Nixon.
In a nutshell, I wasn't convinced with Becks in VCB and I didn't get why she nominated for the Golden Globe...I just didn't feel she truly got the funny in that role, particularly in the climatic scene with Javier, Pene, and the gun. Although she succeeded in playing a really bland American, I kinda got the sense Becks wasn't in tune with Woody Allen's unrehearsed style...plus she was outshone by Scarlet, Javier, Pene, and Patricia Clarkson.
Cate Blanchett, on the other hand, has a naturally heightened neurotic theatricality to her acting...she be would a perfect muse for Woody...especially in Rebecca's role in VCB.
This girl it's a great actress and beautiful, I have a friend in Generic Viagra labs that looks like her, very similar and she's a fan of her hahaha dress almost the same and the sam hair cut, it's like a stalker.
