Daniel Craig (and Dame Judi) in "Equals"
Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at 1:19AM
Love it. This is for International Women's Day... which is today. It's actually the centennial of International Women's Day so a very big deal indeed. This PSA is directed by Sam Taylor-Wood who made that brilliant short "Love You More" and the John Lennon bio Nowhere Boy.

Is anyone else baffled by this?
The statistics, and Dame Judi's delivery of them, are powerful.
The Daniel Craig / James-Bond-in-drag visual .... huh?
I am SanFran!
Craig (and Franco) in drag are so off-putting. Is it a trend?
That's some pretty heavy handed stuff.
I didn't think that was good at all. First of all, was there any need to drop the "007" reference in there at all? They only did it the once, and it was only because Daniel Craig and Judi Dench were involved. The rest of it had nothing to do with Bond at all. It just seemed like desperation to get people to watch it. Secondly, what was the point in having Daniel Craig dressed in drag? Was it supposed to be funny? Again, it just seemed like a desperate attempt to get audience interest.
A much better PSA (although, for a slightly different topic) is the Joe Wright-Kiera Knightley abused woman one. This particular one just seemed lazy and ill executed.
hmmm. y'all are too harsh. it's along the same lines as "what it feels like for a girl" i.e. men need to be able to think about what it's like for a woman to be evolved enough for the horrible realities to change.
I think this is really powerful - I'm just not sure "drag" is the right word to use because of its camp/comic associations. Craig can put on a womans clothes, but that will always be a superficial guise. Nothing will make this man subject to the awful truths Judy is talking about, he can always take off the wig and go back to being Bond. The "Equal" of the title does not exist.
I like it, though it does make one wonder when Judi asks if she and Craig are equals. If she's M and he's Bond, isn't the answer "No - Judi's his boss!"
I guess my main problem is the random and pointless "007" line. It doesn't help the ad at all and just confuses matters. They should have had faith in the message and not felt the need to throw in a random pop culture reference.
