I'll start: I'm hoping that I stop having writers block about what I saw at the movies.

The first actress I thought of this morning was Juliette Binoche which is actually the Boyfriend's fault because he keeps asking me if I have a screener of Certified Copy.

In 2012 I'm hoping that either a film or a man or preferably both will hold me, thrill me, kiss me (but not kill me) at the movies.

The very first movie or actor I thought of today in this brand new year was Jean Dujardin in The Artist because I finally saw the film on Friday and thought he was great in it!

In 2012 I'm hoping to see more black and white or silent movies since I did enjoyed The Artist, I'm not too much into classics.

The very first actor I thought of today in this brand new year was Tom Hiddleston because I'm in crush with him since I saw Midnight in Paris... GOD it's been already a year!!

In 2012 I'm hoping that I don't have as many missed must-sees when it comes to my life at the movies.

The very first movie or actor I thought of today in this brand new year was Anne Hathaway because I can't get her goddamned rendition of "She's Me Pal" out of my head. (Because, you know, I've watched it 32 times. Thanks a lot, Nathaniel.)

In 2012 I am hoping that a great experience awaits me at the movies.

The very first actor I thought of was Micael Fassbender, because its pretty hard to miss that guy he is in one out of every three movies made right now!

First time commenter, long time fan - great blog. Looking forward to the Oscars!

In 2012 I'm hoping that I see more movies at the movies.

The very first movie or actor I thought of today in this brand new year was Christina Ricci because she needs a great film.

In 2012 I'm hoping that I'm more amazed than disappointed at the movies.

The very first actor I thought of today was Dustin Hoffman because my girlfriend brought up Tootsie a little after midnight. We love that movie and Hoffman in it.

I'm hoping that there will be more films I fall in love with at first sight at the movies.

The first actor I thought of today was MAGGIE SMITH because I just finished re-watching S1 of Downton Abbey and she's glorious in it.

The very first movie or actor I thought about in the new year was The Raven. Why? Because John Cusack is probably the actor most genuinely overdue for a LEAD nomination right now. John Cusack has led 21 movies, including stunning lead work in The Grifters, Grosse Pointe Blank and High Fidelity. (The Academy honoured Russell Crowe's mostly dull and lifeless, "Are you not entertained!?" being the only exception, Gladiator work over Cusack giving us a fully fleshed out character through a set of brilliantly transferred monologues in High Fidelity. WHY!!!? Even if you love Gladiator, surely you should admit it's NOT because of the ACTING.) That he hasn't gotten in EVEN ONCE at this point is sort of disgusting and I hope he nets a nod soon.

Ha! RyanT, the first actor I thought of this morning was Michelle Dockery because I just rewatched season 1 of Downton Abbey too! For the sake of originality, I'll answer the other, hoping that in 2012 I can fall in love at the movies at least once the way I did this year with Beginners and Tree Of Life.

In 2012 I'm hoping that there is EXTRAVAGANZA at the movies.

The very first movie or actor I thought of today in this brand new year was Carey Mulligan because of that New York, New York scene from Shame.

January 1, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterRobert

In 2012 I'm hoping that David Lynch, Lucile Hadzihalilovic, Phil Morrison and Ray Lawrence (in roughly that order) get off their asses and start making new movies.

The first actor I thought about today this brand new year was William Holden because I recently saw The Wild Bunch and he was great in it, and also Holly Hunter because Holly Hunter.

In 2012 I'm hoping that I'm thrilled by rather than disappointed at the movies.

The very first movie I thought of today in this brand new year was Pride & Prejudice because I proudly declared my affection for the Keira Knightley version over the Colin Firth version (blasphemy in the Pride & Prejudice fan community) at a party last night.

In 2012 I'm hoping that I don't fall more in love with Carey Mulligan at the movies. It's an unhealthy relationship.

The very first movie or actor I thought of today in this brand new year was Vera Farmiga and Higher Ground because Tara Ariano mentioned it on the fantastic Extra Hot Great podcast.

January 1, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterBrady

In 2012 I'm hoping that Nicole Kidman has massive success (critics/awards/oscars/box office!!!) at the movies.

The very first movie or actor I thought of today in this brand new year was Michelle Pfieffer because she deserves to be the first thought of every waking day.

January 1, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterRM

The first actor I thought of was Mare Winningham, having just watched her extraordinary performance in Georgia.

In 2012 I'm hoping I don't go broke at the movies.

The very first movie I thought of today was Melancholia because my contrarian instincts were coming out last night when everyone at that party was praising the movie, and I found myself thinking that I liked Take Shelter better. (Not saying that on an objective scale TS is a better movie; I'm just saying that as far as apocalypse movies goes, it affected me more).

First actress I thought of today was Giulietta Masina, mainly because I watched "Nights of Cabiria" in the morning on NYEs. Great first actress and film to think of first thing of a new year - hopefully more films this year can be as memorable as that one is!

January 2, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterJoe

In 2012 I'm hoping that Anna Karenina is legendary at the movies.

The very first movie or actor I thought of today in this brand new year was Sally Hawkins because I watched Submarine and she was fun in a small role. If I get one New Year's movie-related wish, it'd be that Hawkins gets a role that's deserving of her talent.

January 2, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterEvan

In 2012, I hope Anne Hathaway's superstardom kicks off.

The first actress and subsequent movie to enter my mind was Zooey Deschanel and 500 Days Of Summer, the movie is a favourite of mine, brillz and amazles. JGL is awesome in it but so is Zooey D, she's like a new Annie Hall as Summer. Zooey is also a lol in New Girl. I wish for her the superstardom that I usually only wish for my Annie Hathz!

January 2, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterKeegan

In 2012 I'm hoping that I see one performance that rocks me to the core and moves me to tears (as Marion Cotillard did in "La Vie en Rose") at the movies.

The very first movie or actor I thought of today in this brand new year was Judy Garland because I rewatched "Meet Me in St. Louis" for the fiftieth time. Not a technical masterpiece, but man do I love it.

January 2, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterMike

Hope there's some good stuff in the early months. The early-year films are always a let-down after the Oscar push.

Andrew Garfield, because he's seriously often in my dreams.

January 2, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterMarsha Mason

The very first movie or actor I thought of today in this brand new year was Madeline Kahn because I've fallen in love with her and i just can not understand how such a great actress and funny lady had to go so early.

January 2, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterTan

In 2012 I'm hoping that the summer blockbusters won't be so disappointing at the movies.

The very first actors I thought of today in this brand new year were Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet, because I cannot wait to have the experience of seeing "Titanic" in a movie theater.

January 2, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterTyler

Finally watched "Made in Dagenham" and I liked it. Seeing Rosamund Pike made me think of how much I loved her in "An Education". I hope that she gets some new roles that showcase her beauty and her talent.

January 2, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterMichael

In 2012 I'm hoping that I find someone handsome (and quiet) sitting next to me at the movies.

The first actor I thought of today was Isabelle Huppert... who I want to see in at least 1 good movie this year!

January 2, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterJeremy

In 2012 I hope the studios release more original work at the movies.

The very first actor I thought of in this brand new year was Robert Redford because my husband and I noted that there are a lot more redheaded superstar actresses than actors. (We love William H. Macy, but we doubted that he could be considered a superstar.)
