Link Roll Call

Gold Derby has the complete list of MTV Movie Awards. As per usual it's a Harry Potter/Twilight party, crashed this time out by The Hunger Games. So YA.
Movie|Line interviews smashing Mark Ruffalo on playing The Hulk and Dance Dance Revolution with his castmates.
Hero Chan "The Birth of Venus Black Widow"
Incredible Suit massive difference between old and new Spider-Man movies demonstrated
My New Plaid Pants "do dump or marry?" The Royal Tenenbaums edition

Pajiba 10 actors who will never be nominated for Emmy no matter how much they deserve it.
Guardian because all franchises refuse to die, they're thinking of resurrecting Dracula to star Tom Cruise as Van Helsing. Won't the vampire craze be over by the time they're finished? It has to be on its last legs now.
The Envelope Oscar is staying put in the same theater for another couple of decades. It is "Kodak" no more but now "Dolby" I believe.
Cracked great behind the scenes photos that break the movie spell
Vulture April's best celebrity portraiture from Michelle Williams to Adepere Oduye
Awards Daily first photos of Nicole Kidman on set of Railway Man. Ugh, I hate when they make my fav goddesses frumpy for movie roles

Finally, I heart this new poster for Snow White and the Huntsman. Oh please let the evil queen win!

OTT: Apparently, there's a bigger possibility to see Maggie Smith nominated to this year's Oscar and even win the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Comedy/Musical Film.

This year, Harvey hasn't a new contender yet in the Lead Actress category... so there's hope!

"As per usual it's a Harry Potter/Twilight party, crashed this time out by The Hunger Games. So YA."

I've said this before and I'll say it again: it's the MTV Movie Awards. Of course they're going to cater to YA films. That's their flippin' demographic!

Dame James -- well sure. I guess i just wish that demographic enjoyed a little more variety in their entertainment. I'm way too much of a whore to only enjoy ONE type of thing. I can't be monogamous with entertainment!

Well, back when I was a teenager MTV was awarding Pulp Fiction, Seven, Scream and Sofia Coppola. Now they are on Transformers and Taylor Lautner, something happened along the way (coorprative thinking in the movies industry).

But this year they got the spirit right wiwth some surprising nominations for Ryan Gosling, Rooney Mara, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and others. I thought it was curious and found out that some industry types got back to choose the nominations and not the public.

Am actually pleasantly suprised at the lack of nominations for Twilight this time round. I juts saw the new one (don't ask me why, I was forced) and I can honesttly say it was terrible (Loads worse than the first, which I have also seen)

That "Huntsman" poster is great in concept, but I don't think the execution is all that great. Also, I can never get Madonna's "Frozen" out of my mind when I see/think of Charlize's turn-into-crows trick.

Nathaniel, are you aware that in "The Railway Man" Kidman will be playing... wait for it... a long-suffering wife? Well, sorta. More of a long-supporting wife, really, from what I've read. She helps Firth's former POW recover and encourages him to visit the place it happened.

I don't know if THE HUNGER GAMES is better than PULP FICTION or SEVEN, but I'm sure it's better than TWILIGHT franchise so I hope is gonna score big at Mtv Movie Awards

May 3, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterMirko

Glenn -- i know. They're beefing Kidman's part up from the novel. anyway... now that you mention it I do think the poster would've been way more eery had they let the raven's eye be his own eye.

Mirko - well said.

@ leon, I hope you're right!

if Harvey gets behind this project Maggie Smith's nomination is practically in the bag!

Those MTV Movie Awards nominations aren't too bad considering what could've been there instead. Ugh, Shailene Woodley. The industry is really gonna push hard to make her happen, aren't they? Also, what is 'Best Gut-Wrenching Performance'? They'll add the totally pointless Best On-Screen Transformation but get rid of Best Action Sequence? LOL MTV. Drive got one more nod here than it did at the Oscar. STILL NOT ENUFFF.

That Pajiba article is accurate.

I need to always remember to look for that Vulture feature.

Snow White and the Huntsman is trying its hardest to get me to avoid it but I NEED to see it for Queen Charlize!

May 3, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterMark The First

This is the first time since the Twilight films were eligible that they didn't nominate Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson or Taylor Lautner for acting awards. To me, that's progress. Also, Ryan Gosling is nominated for Drive, Joseph Gordon-Levitt for 50/50 and Kristen Wiig for Bridesmaids. I will never take the MTV Movie Awards seriously, but I'll give them props for not completely embarassing themselves this time (even if we did get Channing Tatum for The Vow and they still couldn't completely let go of Twilight). I also love that they nominated Joel Edgerton and Tom Hardy for Best Fight (that would be my winner).

I'm also rooting for the evil queen to win!!
