Those Who Have Gone "Before..."

I have never been as nervous about watching a film as I was when I sat down to see Before Midnight. It did not disappoint.

Young Clint, 1956

Clint Eastwood at 26 years of age, lounging in his pool. He was still doing TV guest spots and uncredited teensy tiny roles in movies. Courtesy of NY Mag's Magic Mike inspired gallery of famous shirtless men through the ages

In related news: Summer is suddenly unmistakably here. Have such a good one that Clint will want to make a movie about you next year. He can surely cram it in between other projects.

Talking about ultra Alfa males and American icons and what not. A couple of days ago, I'm not sure, I tried to watch a John Wayne & Maureen O'Hara. one of those westerns belonging to the subgenre of screwballish, where the woman opposes Wayne and needs to be tamed or something of the kind. I couldn't finish watching. It's incredible how fond memories we keep of old movies just because they're old. They had good chemistry, obviously, but the acting was a joke and the whole movie clearly only existed as a Wayne vehicle to show his "comic" skills. It would've been a rotten tomato today. Or maybe not, it has a 7 in IMDB. I don't know nothing no more. Forget this comment.

Clint-what a stud.

Tastes change. By today standards, Clint would be considered thin, even feminine in his lack of muscles and abs and delicate face.

"Still doing TV guest spots" >>> Um, that was his first year of acting so I don't know what you mean by "still"?
