94 Days Til Oscar. Reese Strayed.

94! That's how many days it took Cheryl Strayed to hike the P.C.T. as dramatized beautifully in Wild (opening December 5th). So if you'd like to pretend that Reese is going to win her second Best Actress prize you can view the next 94 days as her red carpet hike stroll to the podium.

Dear Reese,

Loved you lots in this movie. My mind flashed back to your Election and Legally Blonde heyday, not from content -- duh! -- but from quality. Please make more movies this good. XOXO,

       ♥  Nathaniel

I doubt she'll win no one seems to be talking about it.Swank,Moore,Jones and Pike are more probable at this point.

I still think people are seriously underestimating Aniston's chances, especially considering that if she campaigns a bit the Globes could bite.

I have to admit that I lost a lot of respect for her personally after her arrest in Atlanta, but I'm looking forward to this.

It is obvious she sat and took a hard long look at her career since her Oscar win,her career is disappointing having few bright spots like several Oscar winning ladies such as Swank,Portman,Theron & Winslet

Nathaniel, I'm sorry to be off topic but Steve Mcqueen's next project has been announced, called Widows, its not what was announced yesterday and its reported in the trades/over the net. When read the plot synopsis please you will want to do a Cast This post!

I'm really looking forward to Wild. Between this and Inherent Vice (no matter how tiny that role is), it'll be satisfying to have Reese back in interesting projects.

I think she had trouble transisitioning from cute offbeat 20 something to being seen as a woman of substance. I hope this film and the production work point to a new direction.

Loved her with the pig in American Psycho.

Reese was wrongly awarded the Oscar over Huffman''s delicious
turn in Transamerica. Then followed up with forgettable movies during
the next ten years. I personally have no desire to see any movie headlined
by Reese...

I'm reading Wild now and it's great. Good for Reese.

Personally, I think the recent Oscar winner with the most disappointing post-win career is Colin Firth. Flop after flop after flop, with the exception of Tinker Tailor. He never gets called out for it, though, because actors are forgiven a lot more easily than actresses.

Reese won her Oscar by default. It was one of the weakest years ever for Best Actress; she was the only one in a really big movie; she was a big star; and the other nominees were either too light (Dench and Knightley), too offbeat (Huffman) or had just won (Theron). Further, I'm sure some voters thought they were honoring Phoenix as well by awarding Reese.

I just saw Election, and she really shows her cutting skills as a subversive performer. I don't think she's going to win another Oscar, but I hope she gets nominated if Wild is as good as I hear.

I read Wild and really liked it. I'm hopeful the movie adaptation works well. I have no problem with Reese as an actress and welcome both her comedic and serious sides. As for her personal problems, battling booze doesn't even enter the Top Ten of Hollywood scandals in my opinion. :-)

I agree with Suzanne, I'm glad to see her in a juicy part and I hope she gets a nomination.
Colin Firth has a bit of a mixed record since his Oscar win, I suspect a female actress would get much more flack for poor choices than he has. ( I love Firth and I don't wish to critisize him, just the double standard that exists.)
Actresses such as Reeese Witherspoon, Kate Winslet, and Charlize Theron are in their thirties which
Is their prime but are struggling to find decent material. I wish them all the luck, and in Hollywood so dominated by comic book adaptations "the odds are never in their favour".

John, it's gotten to the point where I don't believe any "Steve McQueen's Next Project" news. But I am looking forward to seeing Wild. It'll be great to see quality Reese again!

Brookesboy, it wouldn't occur to me to call Pride and Prejudice light, especially compared to Walk the Line...

I don't know, Paul. P&P is basically a comedy of manners, and nobody gets hooked on coke, emotionally abused by their father, or sawed to death,

November 20, 2014 | Unregistered Commenterbrookesboy

And for that we offer a prayer of thanks.
