2015: Blanchett's Year?

Manuel here bringing you some news on reigning Best Actress, Cate Blanchett.

2015 is shaping up to be quite the busy year for Ms Blanchett. She's currently on screens in The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies; she seems to have made the cut on Terence Malick's Knight of Cups; her costumes for the upcoming live action Disney film Cinderella have us breathlessly waiting to see what she'll be wearing to the ball; and then, of course, there's Todd Haynes' Carol (the most anticipated film here at TFE for 2014 which is all but confirmed to premiere in the spring; may it crop up at Berlin?)

It seems Cate is adding another project to her 2015 resume, one that places her a tad outside the big screen. She's currently collaborating and shooting with artist Julian Rosefeldt on the latter's newest video installation called Manifesto:

Manifesto combines artist manifestos of different types and times with contemporary mundane situations, all performed by CATE BLANCHETT. The project is an attempt to show that these manifestos have contributed not only to art history but also to the way we think and to what we are today.

Above you can see one of the twelve looks Blanchett will don in the installation, currently being filmed in Berlin. Always up for an artistic challenge, Blanchett's entire dialogue will be made up of the manifestos in question (the Futurists, Marxist, Dadaist, etc.); needless to say, it sounds fascinating, so if you're in Sydney, be sure to catch it when it premieres next year and tell us all about it.

I keep trying to figure out which manifesto this funeral scene could be representing; any one care to help me with that? With 2015 primed to be another banner year for Cate, which of her projects are you most excited for? And yes, you may include her sure-to-be-radiant appearance at the Oscars to announce Best Actor.

CAROL, obviously. I'm thinking it'll skip Berlin and go for the big guns of Cannes. Haynes has surely warranted a serious look by the crew over there. I don't think he's screened in competition there before.

She also has "Truth" with Robert Redford (hope they will push this one to 2016) and the other Malick's film (if she makes the cut!).
Looking forward everything, basically.
2015 is shaping up to be her best year yet. Double noms again, maybe (Lead for Hayes, Supporting for Malick)?

Oh Carol for sure! And her upcoming appearances at the Oscars, Berlin and Cannes! Though I am really excited about Knight of Cups, and there is the possibility that the other Malick film gets shown in 2015 too. I hope i'm wrong about my instincts with Cinderella and Truth and they are actually more than merely ok. She is also back on stage in Sydney in 2015 too!

By the way there are images of two of her other looks one as a newsreader here: http://www.br.de/presse/inhalt/pressemitteilungen/drehmeldung-manifesto-cate-blanchett100.html

And another here as a ballet choreographer: https://cateblanchettdaily.wordpress.com/2014/12/21/cate-shoots-at-friedrichstadtpalast-berlin-
dec-20th/

She is joining Tilda here as the Master of Disguise.

What happened to that Cancer Vixen movie at HBO?

Anyway, I'm looking forward to Carol and Truth. The Malick film that is still in development sounds more intriguing to me than Knight of Cups; I hope she makes the cut there.

Suzanne, last I heard of it was early this year and that Julie Delpy would be writing the screenplay, they have both talked about it in interviews, maybe its a case of something taking a while to brew and finding the time when they are not busy. Here's hoping it goes into production next year.

By the end of 2015 I think we all will be saying the year of Winslet,i sense a comeback for her.

Cinderella
Carol
Truth
Knight of Cups
Manifesto

Oh holy! My Queen will have a very good year. I hope as someone else mention that Truth will be pushed to 2016. Are we looking at a double nod again for her? Blanchett looks very good in the Knight of Cups trailer and Cate will for sure be incredible in Carol

I'm excited about everything the next year will bring, especially The Knight of Cups as there's a chance of me going to Berlinale. Last time I went was 11 years ago when I saw The Missing...I do hope to see Carol there, but it will probably be Cannes.

She even makes me enjoy ads:

everything with Cate Blanchett excites me

I demand that "Carol" be a masterpiece!

I'm super excited for Carol, not so much about Rooney Mara, or how she's probably going to steal Sarah Paulson's supporting actress thunder via category fraud, but I'm stoked to see Cate and Sarah in that movie.
