Beauty vs. Beast - Black Widow vs. The Hulk

I can't tell you how proud I am to be hosting JA's weekly series "Beauty vs. Beast". I feel like a giddy reader each Monday just wondering which amusing sophie's choice he'll pose. But he's in Italy this week so I'm your substitute pollster.

I wanted a poll where I wouldn't know who would win. I caught up with Thor: The Dark World recently (for reasonszzz) and I'm about to leave for a screening of Captain America: Winter Soldier so Loki & Black Widow are both on the brain. Remember that great tense scene in The Avengers where the Hulk is after The Black Widow? Remember how they both stole that whole movie via outsmarting or smashing Loki? It's a literal Beauty vs. Beast this week

Voting Continues!
Both this poll and the Talented Mr Ripley "Tom vs. Dickie" poll are open until Sunday when JA returns from Italy.

I'll have to reevaluate everything I thought I knew about life if Black Widow loses on THIS site of all places.

I'd genuinely be interested to see how Marvel would handle a Black Widow film given she doesn't actually have a superpower. It'd mean they would actually have to think of ways to have her outrun and outsmart the villain instead of just, like, using super magic or whatever. But I figure ScarJo is aware she's never getting her own picture as Black Widow, which is why she went and made that Luc Besson movie. She wants to kick butt on her own.

Glenn: I think Marvel Studios WANTS to make it, but they also don't want relatively clashing franchises running at the same time. Even though Cap has superpowers, he's still the most low key of the heroes who currently has a solo franchise. They'll want something like that around, and Black Widow is the easiest bet that they haven't tossed a full TV show. (If they hadn't tossed Daredevil, Iron Fist and Luke Cage Netflix shows, one of those would probably be their relative Captain America replacement.)

If Lucy is a hit we'll probably see a Black Widow movie.

Sad man: That'd help too, especially since even the rough plot description on Lucy makes her odds of surviving more than one film slim to nil.

Nat: You say you wanted a battle with no clear winner, but then you position the Hulk as a whiny movie star. Of course he will now lose. As he should.

And the real reason he's mad is because Bill Bixby is no longer around to bring him to life.

Glenn, the new run of Black Widow comics is clearly intended to be a film some day. Black Widow is a master infiltrator and spy. She doesn't have a superpower, but she is extremely intelligent and well trained in all kinds of combat. Plus, with the new comics, she's trying to atone for all of her misdeeds when she would take on any soldier for hire job just for the money.

It would probably be closer in tone to the Ed Norton Hulk film than anything else to come out of the Marvel line up. I don't think that's a bad thing.

I'm Team Black Widow, but I like them both and I can't imagine her winning a fight against him.
