Possibly see Neighbors with a free movie pass I have.
Game of Thrones is airing is third to last episode and I will be glued to the tv. That last one was amazing and Peter Dinklage has more than earned Emmy #2 already.
Rewatch Spring Breakers at some point. All dat neon.
Constantly be thinking about Goddess Julianne's Cannes-winning performance in Map To The Stars and when I can see it.
Might Netflix-watch the Xavier Dolans again.
(I've never seen Wings. I should get on that)
I watched "I Killed My Mother" on Netflix. It is a terrific film and Dolan
Is delicious in the title role of Hubert...
Mark the First, I think HBO is airing The NOrmal Heart, not Game of Thrones.
That shot makes "Wing" look like "Brokeback Flying Squadron"
Wings is one of my Top 10 favorite movies ever. I remember being the one to show it to my father, which is weird because he's the one who got me into movies. When it was over, he said, "This is why the Oscars exist." I'll never forget that.
As for this weekend, I'm going to relax. This is my first day off since Wednesday. I may see X-Men tomorrow though!
I'm off to see X-Men: DOFP for the second time in a bit, and will probably see it for the 3rd time tomorrow...
Here in Sweden there´s no Memorial day weekend but at least we got X-Men DOFP and it was brilliant! Is it sacrilege to say that it might be better than X2?
Nat, just wanted to say thanks for always championing THEY SHOOT HORSES, DON'T THEY? since no one else on the web seems to any more. I just watched it for the first time last night, and damn, it immediately became one of my all-time favorites. Has Fonda ever been better?
Sorry, but I must jump in because I love Jane Fonda and we never discuss her. I think she's amazing as Gloria. Her final scene gives me chills. In case you haven't seen it, watch Klute.
Peggy Sue & Jordan -- thanks. I should totally do a Jane Fonda retrospective of at least her Oscar roles. LIke the one i started on Bette Davis (which starts again this week with The LIttle Foxes) Not only is Fonda a great actress but the movies are often really good, too.
@Peggy Sue Just saw Klute last month. Again, so underrated as a performance but also as a film.
The Normal Heart is the best thing Ryan Murphy will ever do. And I have taken into consideration his worthy philanthropic work. Hiring goddesses Hollywood no longer has use for.
Arkaan - I was reminded of that a couple hours after I posted the above text haha. Ah, well. The Normal Heart finally debuting was a good consolation prize since it actually turned out to be surprisingly good. I say 'surprisingly' purely because of Ryan Murphy and his ways.
I also wanna sing the praises of They Shoot Horses, Don't They? - an amazing piece of work in every regard including, and especially, Jane Fonda's stellar work in it. The direction, the lighting, the sets, the costumes, the sound design, all the peripheral character work, the pacing, the slow burn to the eventual tragic climax. Such an underrated yet unusually influential piece of filmmaking that really deserves to be re-appreciated in the public eye a la The Criterion Collection sometime soon.
Klute is everything. That character!
Oh, that would be so great!
