Help Wanted
Regular Contributor
TFE is looking for a new regular with a focus on current cinema / movie news. Must have your own voice but one that still fits with the general tone of the site (i.e. serious about cinema but never at the expense of having fun & vice versa). Interested parties should have three writing samples but the ability to be concise and right to the point in engaging bite-sized takes is best. We never cut and paste press releases here as so many sites do but sometimes that's at the expense of not covering news at all which is not an ideal solution. Are you an alchemist who can read a press release and transform it into something short and pithy that actually still gives us the news but with a point of view?
International Correspondents
The last time I tried this I got a lot of interest from foreign readers who wanted to talk about American cinema. But that's not what we're looking for. We're looking for people abroad (with the same skill set as regular contributors: fun, concise, accessible) who are well versed in / frequently attend their own country's cinema for monthly concise peeks at film culture elsewhere. Especially in major film markets like Germany, China, Japan, Brazil, India, France, Spain, Russia, etcetera...

Really? Would you actually consider me after I've begged you for just a guest contributor spot?
Good luck to everyone!
I would love to be a bit of a uk correspondent but have no skills.
Could you post this again, say, 10 years ago? I'd surely have applied for German correspondent back then...
MrW - LOL. if i had a way to time travel things would be so different here :)
You should hold auditions :) Let the scrambling begin...
Very very very interesting....
I'd love to write about Spanish cinema if I had any writing skills, which I don't have. And if there was something to report. The state of Spanish cinema is so sad since the outburst of the economic crisis that Amenábar (remember The Others?) has spent 6 years in between pictures, Almodóvar has nothing in the works, Bayona (The Impossible) is doing Tv... Coixet, Amenábar, Bayona, etc prefer to shoot in English so that they can open in more markets.
Spanish cinema is financially asfixiated by piracy, and specially by this government who insists in charging the 21% of taxes to cultural products, and whose minister (of taxes, that is) openly said Spanish cinema lacks quality, thus irresponsibly giving a reason for people not going to support what in the end is an industry involving thousands of jobs. Jobs that go much further than the actors who protest against the government policies. Actors wo presumably the government hates and is vengefully proving so.
Ugh, I'm already depressed-angry.
For The Film Experience dot net, from Madrid... :)
Nathaniel-is there a deadline?
not particularly but within a week would work
I'm an Indonesian, and would love to be a contributor here.
But I just got into my college, and will not have the dedication the contributors here have.
I could probably be a correspondent for Mexican Cinema if that interests you. Mexico is going through a pretty interesting phase in cinema (even though I hated Instructions Not Included, which is now, sadly, the highest grossing Mexican film of all time). Where should I send the writing samples? How long would you like them to be?
I'm in Paris and I could do it, if you don't mind the fact that sometimes I could go with longer periods of not contributing... I am a stage director (for opera mostly). That means that when I work I am absent 5-6 weeks. That's 3-4 times/year... That's almost half a year... so if you find someone who has more time, you should probably go for that person. If not, I'll be happy to help !
Would love the regular contributor spot. Sent stuff over the other day.
Can't think of a better place to write for (and not just because of your love for Nicole Kidman, Nat)!
I would love to do either one, is it a requirement to be in US to be a regular contributor ( I'm not sure if you would want me as international correspondent, because I'm from Slovenia and we make about 2 movies a year:)) For the writing samples, do you want reviews or should it be different kind of things...?
I forgot to add that I am actually Romanian, so I could cover that as well. For all the actressexuals out there some interviews with some of the actresses more known internationally (think of Luminita Gheorghiu, Annamaria Marinca, Ana Ularu) could be easily arranged.
I am probably going to be slow about going through all the emails in regards tto this but thanks for everyone who sent something. I am in the process of reading them.
EVERYONE -- please note. if you'e just commenting like "me me" please understand that there's no way for me to follow up or contact you as I don't have your information or samples. You have to email me. kthx bye!
