Gold Standard Character actors get their own award "The Carneys"... we wouldn't need this if the Academy remembered why they invited the Supporting Acting categories. The first recipients: Bob Balaban, Michael Ealy, Bruce McGill, David Paymer and CCH Pounder

Variety talks to Karl Glusman about his first day on the set of Gaspar Noé's Love -- they started with the ejaculation scene. Yikes

Graham Norton talks to Maggie Smith who isn't sad to say goodbye to Downton Abbey
Variety selects under the rader performances that "deserve" Oscar buzz. While it's nice to see more props for Kristen Stewart's great work in Clouds of Sils Maria, it's tough to take this seriously: Helen Mirren in Woman in Gold? Good god did she ever phone that one in! Ruffalo "reinventing" himself for Spotlight? Try repeating himself!

Did you hear there's a fully poseable Michaelangelo's David action-figure? Want! Also why is there not a movie about the creation of this work of art?

Doesn't "The Agony and the Ecstasy" cover Michelangelo's creation of David? I've only read the book, but I imagine it's an important part of the movie.
The very talky movie with Charlton Heston as a very heterosexual Michaelangelo is about the painting of the Sistine Chapel. I've seen the original up close and a movie about it's creation would be fascinating. Zeffirelli always wanted to make a movie about renaissance Florence but never got around to do it.
CCH Pounder was terrific on FX's The Shield back in the day
I don't care what anyone says. I liked Cake. So there.
I can't read Awards Daily anymore because their site design is so messed up now, but I did notice Sasha's lemmings are predicting Joy to win everything at the Oscars, even though no one has seen a finished film. It's Novemver 1 and I smell turkey
Gangol - But 75% of the internet is predicting The Revenant to win all the Oscars! Why does no one think this is equally ridiculous?
That Variety article on "under the radar" performances is ridiculous. Matt Damon in The Martian is an "under the radar" performance? Really? Helen Mirren would have been seen as a strong contender if Woman in Gold opened this fall? Uh, yeah, I have a feeling the movie would have tanked with 80% of the other releases this October...
Variety's articles have been ridiculous for a long time. And their tweets. Talk about click bait...
So happy for CCH Pounder.
