Triple (Poster) Threat

Manuel here with posters for three upcoming films we’ve been surprisingly quiet about here at TFE even though I know we're excited about (some of) them.
First up, Pan. I am vaguely curious about this Hugh Jackman/Joe Wright film but is it just me or has the marketing team been not really been doing their job on this film? It’s like that Rooney Mara Telluride Tribute was for naught! I mean, sure it was mostly for Carol, but you’d think they’d want to capitalize on her buzz!
Next, The Intern. Is this the film that will win Hathaway’s fans back (most of us never left!) or will it just fuel the fire? On a side-note, did you all read this fantastic interview with Nancy Meyers for New York Magazine? It’s worth a read in its entirety but my favorite line, obviously, was:
“Women can direct dinosaurs. Believe me.”
I am now imagining a Jurassic Park film directed by Nancy Meyers (imagine that raptor scene in a Meyers kitchen!) and boy would that be more enjoyable than the Trevorrow flick I finally caught up with this weekend.
And last but certainly not least, we have this bizarre poster for Steve Jobs (I do so love its main one), We at TFE will be catching this one soon at NYFF and will have plenty to say then, I’m sure. But for now, I’m going to obsess over Kate’s glasses and icy stare.

Talented women can't direct anything. Nancy Meyers just can't.
I get crazy when I see actors of the caliber of Meryl Streep and Diane Keaton working with her. And then she says she took a lof from her life to direct What Women Want and things get even worse!
I just can't understand that so many talented women have a hard time in Hollywood and Nancy Meyers is the most successful.
They're really trying a lot of different marketing angles for Steve Jobs. I just saw a commercial last night that focused exclusively on the daughter/paternity drama. It's interesting and is actually great to see instead of hitting us over the head with the same commercial/images/moments over and over again.

Is it me or does Winslet seem like the surest nominee out of everyone.
Is that supposed to be Hedlund in that Pan poster? I almost didn't recognized him!
Also I've seen those posters of The Intern all over NYC subways... and they don't work for me. It doesn't look like it's for a movie.

I agree with DJDeeJay - the Steve Jobs marketing is fantastic. The trailers and ads are so intriguing that it's actually become one of my most anticipated movies of the year. I never thought I'd say that about a Danny Boyle-directed biopic a few months ago.
I like Anne, but The Intern is a rental for me. Just too generic when there are so many options this time of year.

Love Nancy Meyers (my guilty pleasures are all her films) and just saw the intern at a screening. Is super saccharine sweet and not a whole lot of conflict, but I had the best time at it. If you are a fan of her work, you'll love it. If you aren't, or have even a degree of cynicism, you will probably find it nauseating.
I find myself looking forward to seeing "Steve Jobs" much more than I thought I would, and it's because of Kate Winslet. She is rocking those deglam glasses.
Sadly, I'm a huge Joe Wright fan and I'm just hoping "Pan" isn't too awful. (Ouch)
I'm neutral on Anne Hathaway.
Nathaniel, my dear nephew, have you any doubt our Kate will lunch all the cast and make this movie her own ?

Steve Jobs, most definitely. The Intern, when it's on TV. Pan... probably not.
That was a GREAT interview with Nancy Meyers, and I think I've only seen "Something's Gotta Give" and "The Parent Trap".

I was dubious about my love Fassbender being convincing as Steve Jobs but the trailer has reassured me. I'm ashamed to have doubted him. "The Intern" looks to be lightweight fun and Nancy Meyers does that very well. As for "Pan", I have zero interest in seeing this.
I love quad posters, but none of these are any good. PAN is the only one that comes close to utlising the different space ratio in any way and that's for an ugly-assed design.
Remember when jOBS (oy) used a tie-died picture of Ashton Kutcher to sell itself? How strange.
I think the thing I like most about Nancy Meyers' films, after the art direction, is the way she lets great actors poke fun at their images. I got a hunch The Intern will be a great example of this. Also, the comb of DeNiro and Hathaway is fairly irresistible.
