Is there Ms Julie Andrews??? Such a GLAMORPUSS!!! Lol
OMG! Nathaniel, THANK YOU for THIS! My hills are now alive and quivering.
Star! is an obsession...Star! is an obsession...Star! is...
The delightful Julie Andrews. Star! was mostly under-rated and yet it received 7 Oscar nominations, including one to Daniel Massey for playing Noel Coward. I saw the film when it was originally released and never again. It's time to pay it a repeat visit!
"Star" has some good moments, it's too bad it never gets repeated on tv the way other musicals
do . But Dame Julie Andrews herself - is always fabulous.
::sigh::
When I saw this picture, I thought that Star! might very well contain Julie Andrews' best non-Oscar-nominated performance. Then I remembered The Americanization of Emily. What a fantastic actress!
The Americanization of Emily is one of the best (though it hard to go wrong when you are speaking Paddy Chavefsky’s lines) but Dame Andrews shines in Star! and it is one of the few appearances of Daniel Massey on film . And then there is Jenny, and My Ship and that wonderful Kurt Weill music.
I thought this was Kristen Wiig for a second. I don't necessarily want a biopic, but I'd watch that.
Well, that'd be Wiig's Best Actress Oscar right there.
Leslie, the music in Star! is incredible. Besides the numbers you mentioned, Burington Bertie and The Physician are big fun. I still cannot believe Julie did that bouncing off the gymnasts thighs during The Saga of Jenny. Watching that is pure bliss!
Breathtaking
Julie is every inch a STAR in that fabulous shot
Brookesboy- I laughed out load at work at your comment. My supervisor had to come over to my desk to see what happened. Luckily she likes Julie Andrews.
Tom--that is terrific lol. Julie just brings everyone together!
