Drag Race All Stars Begins Aug. 25!
Thursday, August 4, 2016 at 10:48PM Get ready for the return of your favorite drag queens because later this month RuPaul's Drag Race is giving us another All Stars season. Can you believe we are already getting more eleganza when it feels like season 8 just ended?
In case you haven't seen the cast, here's our returning queens:

- Coco Montrese (Season 5)
- Detox (Season 5)

That is an overload of season five realness, but if it means the return of Rolaskatox, we are perfectly okay with that. Tatianna is the only returning early season competitor and maybe the season's underdog - don't forget she was the original Snatch Game winner with her Britney Spears ("I got lost!"). Overall this cast is heavy with strong performers ready to bring the drama. This round is forgoing the first All Stars season's drama-undercutting teams concept in favor of a new twist:
You heard that right: the best performers will lipsync against one another and the lipsync winner will choose the queen that sashays away. Could it lead to another Rolaskatox domination? Does it stack the deck against lipsync assassins like Alyssa Edwards and Coco Montrese that were never strong performers in actual challenges?

I want top 3 to be Alaska, Katya, and Tatianna with Katya winning. Really wish BenDeLaCreme was here or Ongina way back from season 1. Surprised Adore is the only season 6 representation considering it's arguably the most popular and had the best cast.
Always and forever #TeamTati. This twist is very good in theory, but they'll find a way to fuck it up in execution.
I wish Courtney Act or Willam (too bad Ru hates them) or an early season queen was there in place of Coco Montrese (for me she's the weakest of the cast...and the Alyssa v Coco drama is REALLY played out by now), but overall it's such a strong cast.
I literally gagged about the twist. My friend texted me and my jaw dropped lmao. That is going to make for SUCH good tv!
Not a fan of Adore but Alyssa is so camp and catty.
The new lipsync format will surely bring the DRAMA! love it.

Ryan I feel like Phi Phi is going to get a positive redemption edit. People grow and evolve after all.
I feel like no one who ever made the top 3 should be able to return for all-stars, considering all the extra screen time they get - at least in recent seasons. But whatever.
Top Tier
Alaska - Shoulda-won
Alyssa - My favorite un-self-aware comedy queen
Detox - Totally robbed in her season and her looks always slay
Katya - Season seven stand-out, but is that saying that much?
Tier Two
Adore - Boy drag but interesting persona
Tatianna - Kind of love her, actually. A low key shady queen that a recent season wouldn't have come up with
Roxxxy - I suspect she won't be as strong this season, but you can't deny her strengths in runway and lip sync
Filler
Coco - Did we really need to try to revive the Alyssa feud again?
Ginger - A runner-up for the worst season on record, but a solid standard queen
Phi Phi - She's attempted an image rehabilitation since her season but I fear she's just as boring + Party City
I get the twist since it's actually kind of a brilliant way to create drama between the queens who are obviously quite familiar with each other but it makes me fear that some queens are going to get royally screwed over. If you flop on a challenge, there's no last chance to prove yourself which sucks alot of the drama out of the final lipsync. Plus my beloved Alyssa wasn't strong at the challenges in her season and i'll be *incredibly* hurt if she gets taken out because some other queen claimed the top spot that week.
Also, with the final choice going to the winner of the lipsync, i don't envy if it's someone like Phi Phi who has to potentially send home a fan favorite or a big threat. Out of all of the girls, Phi Phi by far needs this season the most.

Alaska's ex spoiled all, and it turns out that yes, putting rolaskatox together obviously gave them advantage. Pretty dumb casting decision.
I fully get where everyone is coming from with the Phi Phi ire, but she has evolved quite a bit since her time on the show. On her Instagram she's doing a very ambitious 365 Days of Drag project that's fully gag-worthy - check it out!
Also, in case anyone doesn't realize by now... Phi Phi was doing that all for the show. She knew what she had to do to get far. She has revealed that her and Sharon worked together. There were real moments, but overall, they knew how to play the game.
And this is coming from someone who absolutely HATED Phi Phi on season 4. I can't even rewatch that season because it's just so high strung and negative lol.
