Beauty Break: Brad Pitt
Brad Pitt covers the New York Times Magazine in which he wears as assortment of Giogio Armani gear and talks to Man Booker prize winning author Marlon James about Brexit, Trump and Mel Gibson. And of course gives great face while doing it.
As far as magazine celebrity profiles go, this is a very innocuous one. Pitt comes in as a nice and affable guy, but doesn't really offer any interesting tidbits. Except for what he says about Mel Gibson. In the course of discussing a potential film he wants to make about Pontius Pilate, he says that his movie "certainly won’t be for the ‘Passion’ crowd". Then for good measure, adds about Gibson's box office juggernaut:
“I felt like I was just watching an L. Ron Hubbard propaganda film.”
Brad Pitt, nice guy, movie star, expert at throwing shade.

Is he the only prominent white star in Hollywood actively producing films that speak to diversity? And I think he started before all of the #Oscarssowhite controversy of the last couple of years.
Just something I thought I'd point out.
He looks so good. Love him.
He really has never rested on his classic good looks. He has consistently striven for more.
The Most Beautiful & Underappreciated Actor Of His Generation.
Pitt reminds me of this quote from Americanah:
"One great gift for the Zipped-Up Negro is The White Friend Who Gets It. Sadly, this is not as common as one would wish, but some are lucky to have that white friend who you don’t need to explain shit to. By all means, put this friend to work. Such friends not only get it, but also have great bullshit-detectors and so they totally understand that they can say stuff that you can’t. So there is, in much of America, a stealthy little notion lying in the hearts of many: that white people earned their place at jobs and schools while black people got in because they were black. But in fact, since the beginning of America, white people have been getting jobs because they were white. Many whites with the same qualifications but Negro skin would not have the jobs they have. But don’t ever say this publicly. Let your white friend say it. If you make the mistake of saying this, you will be accused of a curiosity called “playing the race card.” Nobody quite knows what this means."
A great guy and what he's doing is admirable, but I can't help but feel like Hollywood listens to him more just because he's white.
Mr Pitt looks like a movie star
He means "Passion" the underrated Sondheim musical right? LOL
Why hasn't Hollywood adapted that musical and many other Sondheim masterpieces as movies? Passion, Company and Sunday would make such tremendous flicks!
Of course people listen to him more because he's white. They also listen to him more because he's a movie star. But you've got to give him credit for using the voice he's been given, his privileged position, to affect positive change.
He is a true movie star and he strikes me as a veritable professional. Truly personifies what an A List actor should behave like.
His 52-year-old face looks as smooth as a baby's bottom. That's ridiculous.
I can't help but feel like Hollywood listens to him more just because he's white
They are a patriarchal white supremacy. How old are you? He's a valuable white ally because he funds deeply necessary projects with nonwhite creatives and leaves them alone to make the movie of their choice. Fully backing them once completed and in the world.
Hollywood listens to him - because he is a bankable star
@Jaragon
Mr Pitt IS a Movie Star!! Lol
MDA -- he did start all that before #OscarsSoWhite, yes. And he's also spoken out for LGBT community. He's awesome.
