Bathroom Break with "The Breakfast Club"
Chris here. The days of deleted scenes providing much intrigue have long since past, ever since they became par for the course on DVD extras and overspeculation fodder for message board. Seldom does long-buried footage emerge that really screams "gimmie!" but the Criterion Collection has just that and it's coming very soon: nearly an hour of extra scenes for The Breakfast Club...
Just like the masses, we love the film here at The Film Experience - but I would argue it could use a little more detail on top of it's too brief 90ish minutes. Part of why it's a constantly revisited film is because we want to spend more time with these characters, so this should provide some added backstory to our beloved athlete, basket case, etc.
The Criterion arrives on Tuesday but we already have a peek of the scenes to come, thanks to Vulture! Here we see a quick scene of Claire extending an olive branch to Allison (perhaps the most underserved character) in the bathroom. Which Breakfast Clubber do you hope to get more time with?

I always loved Ally Sheedy's character in the film and I agree with Ellen Page and Diablo Cody about the fact that she didn't need a makeover. She was already fine as she was.
This film was greatly edited and all the ‘fat’ seemed to be trimmed off. Hope any new discoveries don’t lessen my love of these characters.
There was always an additional scene shown on public tv where the kids slip into the hallway and one by one tiptoe past the Principal’s lounge while Vernon pounds a pop machine not giving him his can. Scene added nothing to the film because Vernon had to have noticed one of them! This scene was probably before the part where Bender tosses a can to Allison and she catches it with one hand.
