• NPR there's a new Marlene Dietrich exhibit at the National Portrait Gallery in DC so check it out if you're passing through or live there. They say it's "dazzling"
• /Film John G Avildsen (RIP). The director of cultural phenomenons Rocky and the Karate Kid has passed away at 81. He'll always be remembered for those two pictures but we have to also thank him for trash cult fav A Night in Heaven as well as launching the career of Susan Sarandon in Joe (1970)
• THR Comedy Actress roundtable with Emmy Rossum, America Ferrera, Minnie Driver, Kathryn Hahn, Issa Rae, and Pamela Adlon
More after the jump including controversy in Oscar's animation branch, Patti Lupone, Captain Underpants, Lambda Awards, etcetera...
• Cartoon Brew some controversy in the Board of Governors elections for the animated branch at the Oscars
• Interview shares a really old interview with Kevin Kline before he won his second Tony (he just took home his third)
• New Yorker Emily Nussbaum on feminist cringe comedy and "train wreck" I Love Dick
• Awards Daily It's not just Oscar that has confusing rules for eligibility of docs. Emmy has deemed some high profile titles ineligible

• My Giant Nerd Boyfriend "Heat" I relate 2 this comic so much
• Towleroad Lambda Literary Awards Winners have been announced - so take this list as reading suggestions. I'm going to read the sci-fi/fantasy horror winner The Devourers which is getting great reviews or maybe the graphic novel winner Wuvable Oaf
• Popular Science "Eating potatoes won't actually kill you" - on that recent french fries study that's making the web rounds
• Boy Culture Caitlyn Jenner doing more damage than good at this point. My only qualm with this article is the suggestion that she's just now a net negative. I hate to think ill of people but she's clearly not a good person -- despite many efforts to educate her she remains stubborn and ultra naive about her privilege, still supports anti-trans politicians and is now sinking to a new low by making light of gun violence. Gross.
• Towleroad Patti LuPone says she won't perform is Donald T**** comes to see her show. I'm LOLing for multiple reasons including the inability to picture T**** doing anything cultural like seeing a show.

Not to mention that Caitlyn has literally killed a person and gotten away with it.
Caitlyn Jenner is truly an AWFUL human being.
Caitlyn Jenner is actual an example of what is so ridiculous, gross and frankly, stupid about the current conservative ideology in the US at the moment.
She's also a terrible and horrible person (that we as a community ever celebrated her for her transition is a low point) but her politics are a reflection of her beliefs and they're all shiiiitty. Then she has the nerve to wonder and whine that she's been shunned by the community.
To me, Bruce Jenner. He's still Bruce in my opinion, is still a piece of shit. Let's not forget that he's connect with some of the most horrible people in the face of the universal that has helped dumb-down humanity.
Jenner (gender neutral) is a white supremacist elitist. And guilty of vehicular manslaughter though let go because of celebrity.
Patti LuPone won't perform to Madonna, either.
It really is possible to declare Caitlyn Jenner a terrible person AND not to misgender her. You really can do it, thevoid99.
Nathaniel Rogers:
After passing away, John Hurt was replaced by Ronal Pickup. Look at IMDb for more info.
So, no posthumous nomination for John. 😢
I echo Will's sentiment.
