Sorry, my mind is more Emmy focused than Oscar's right now and looking for series I ought to see before nominations.
"The Big Sick", because we not only need rom coms, we just need comedies, period. Let's say 3 Oscar nominations, just on a hunch.
The movie I'm most looking forward to right now is The Beguiled because actressing. I hope it's good enough to be nominated for supporting actress Oscars. Not likely, but I had a dream last night that Kirsten Dunst was nominated for supporting actress at the Globes lol.
Also looking forward to the Florida Project.
I'm looking forward to "It", mainly because I thought the miniseries was dumb and the idea of a remake was dumber until I saw the trailer. Now, I'm really interested to see if they can pull it off. If they don't, I won't be too disappointed (or surprise), but I am hoping they do make a movie as good as the trailer.
As for Oscars, yeah, not a chance, LOL.
But wow, what if they do pull it off?
The movie I'm looking forward to right now is Baby Driver because Edgar Wright. I hope it's good enough to be nominated for at least 1 Oscar, Editing. Now, max, it might be a six or seven Oscar blow-out (In order of likelihood: Editing, Sound Editing, Sound Mixing, Original Screenplay, Supporting Actor, Director, Picture) and goodness knows he's more than earned such a blow out moment, but that might take him getting a $250-300 million hit and not just his typical mild success.
The movie I'm most looking forward to right now is Mother! because I love Michelle Pfeiffer and Aronofsky is talented. I hope it's good enough to be nominated for 9 Oscars (but JLaw is snubbed, sorry) ;-)
The movie I'm most looking forward to right now is Call Me By Your Name because the book gave me all the feels and also...Armie Hammer in tight swim trunks!! I hope it's good enough to be nominated for 7 Oscars including not just Picture, Director, and Actor but Score and Cinematography.
The one with the French gay activists and the very bad title because I still can't believe I lived that era. I don't care if it gets Oscars or not.
The movie I'm looking forward to is Atomic Blonde because I'm fed up with my work environment and want to see an ultra-cool Charlize quash everyone who interferes with her. I hope it wins a zillion Oscars.
The movie I'm looking forward to is You Were Never Really Here because of Lynne Ramsay as I hope she gets some redemption due to the horror over Jane's Got a Gun. I hope it wins her an Oscar.
The movie I'm most looking forward to right now is Phantom Thread because EVERYTHING. I hope it's good enough to be nominated for no Oscars due to it being a misunderstood masterpiece and a turning point in cinema.
Wonder wheel definitely cause I want Kate Winslet to have 8th oscar nods and a second win, she totally deserves it!
Tie: Dunkirk ... Christopher Nolan ... several Oscars, including best picture and best director.
The Papers ... Spielberg, Hanks, Streep and the rest of the cast ... Best picture, director, actor and actress.
Holly Hunter's fifth Oscar nod alongside girlfriend Frances McDormand. They'll technically have the same Oscar record. One win, five nods, two in best actress, three in supporting. And the occurrence for Hunter getting her nods in a eligible year ending in either a three or a seven continues undisturbed.
The movie I'm most looking forward to right now is The Papers because a) Meryl Streep is my Queen and my Love, b) Tom Hanks is my daddy crush, c) journalism films is definitely my thing, and d) Steven Spielberg really need to make it up to me after his disappointingly bland Bridge of Spies.
I hope it's good enough to be nominated for 12 Oscars (Picture, Director, Actor, Actress, Supporting Actor, Screenplay, Cinematography, Film Editing, Sound Mixing, Original Score, Production Design, Costume Design).
The Wife because Glenn Close - 2 oscar noms actress and adapted screenplay
I'm most looking forward to Wonderstruck, because of God Haynes. I hope it at least gets a best director nomination to make up for the Carol snub.
I'm also SO ready for Baby Driver on Tuesday.
Wonder Wheel because it's the first Woody Allen movie that I can remember to be released in December, because he says it's a serious movie, because it has Kate Winslet--which means if it's good it's going to be amazing and take the Oscars by storm.
I love Woody and think his recent work doesn't get the acknowledgement it deserves
The movie I'm most excited for right now is The Beguiled because I'm fascinated by Sofia Coppola's voice as a director and want to see what she can do to modernize a dated text. I hope it is good enough to be nominated for an appropriate number of Oscars. I'm not a psychic. I don't know much beyond the logline, Coppola's win at Cannes, and how beautiful the images from the film look.
The movie I'm most looking forward to right now is The Papers because Katharine Graham and Meryl Streep are two of the women I most admire and I can't believe that the latter is actually playing the former, and I am excited that Spielberg is providing us with a timely reminder about the importance the press has played in history. I don't even really care about its Oscar nomination count!
The movie I'm most looking forward to now is STRONGER because of Jake Gyllenhaal. I hope it's good enough to be nominated for 3 Oscars.
The Papers because of Streep, Hanks AND Spielberg. Hoping for all the Oscars and a 21st nomination and a win(!) for Streep!!
Mary Poppins Returns. Why - because I am sentimental, I loved Mary Poppins & Saving Mr Banks....i expect the 2018 "Mary" to be practically perfect in every way Writing, direction, music, scenic, performances, Lin-Emmanuel Miranda! 11+ oscars nominations. Perhaps a long-awaited supporting win for the beloved Angela Lansbury!

Dunkirk, because of -- well, of course, Christopher Nolan;
Blade Runner 2049, because of Denis Villeneuve's ability to inject a focused humanity in science fiction film without losing the storytelling drama.
I bet both films vacuum up a boatload of technical nominations.
It would be nice to see maybe a couple of acting nods -- both directors cast their films well and pull out fine performances from their acting talent.
Nolan is overdue for a directing nomination. Villeneuve might deserve one as well, given the challenge of helming the sequel to a sci-fi classic, if the film becomes immediately acclaimed.
