They Found Someone: Stephanie J. Block to Play Cher
By Spencer Coile
Renowned (and Tony nominated) for The Mystery of Edwin Drood and for "breaking down" in Falsettos, and for playing Liza Minnelli in the Hugh Jackman musical The Boy From Oz, theater star Stephanie J. Block is about to add another iconic character to her repertoire: Cher. The Cher Show, which will be penned by Jersey Boys writer Rick Elice, will tell the story of pop singer and Academy Award winning actress throughout her career...
Spanning back to her childhood and through her breakthrough in the music industry, three actresses will play the leading role. Unlike many jukebox musicals of years past, The Cher Show will tell a non-linear story, but will be structured like a variety series -- think The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour. And, here's the kicker, the show is rumored to include almost all (or most) of Cher's most popular hits.
Flody Suarez, co-producer of The Cher Show, says:
The show is very funny, emotional, and really tells you how Cher managed to keep knocking down doors that were closed against her — she forced people to see her. The show will premiere in Chicago in June, but will make its Broadway debut in the fall -- hopefully leading to a Tony Award for Stephanie J. Block next summer.

I'm not a huge fan of jukebox musicals, but would make an exception for this. I love Stephanie & Cher!
Is it too much to ask to have Chad Michaels play Cher at some stage?
She got big Bob Mackie costumes to fill.
the crazy thing about this description is if they actually are brave and go for it in a skit like non linear way, it might actually work.
*GAY GASP*
They should get Adrienne Warren from the Tina Turner musical, in London, and recreate the Cher and Tina iconic Shame, Shame, Shame number, from the 70s.
